This link doesn't work anymore Can anyone post a new one?
-
Also, can anyone provide any insight into this? It says I am recommended, is that just a restatement that I am a semifinalist or could it mean anything else...?
-
It seems like this thread is slightly dead (last year's thread had like 200 something pages) so I am wondering if people are just talking on Slack more. If anyone has any information that would be greatly appreciated ToT

Also how do I get on the Fulbrighters slack group? I have the link but it says i need an invite from the administrator

Hi, I just got an email from Fulbright China about applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship... WHAT DOES THIS LAST SENTENCE MEAN (I highlighted it and whatnot, not them) Did all the semifinalists get this email???? Does this mean anything at all or am I just looking into it too much?? This wait is seriously driving me insane. My graduation date depends on whether or not I get this award (I will graduate in the summer if I get it and next semester if I don't) so this whole process has been so nerve wracking. Dear China Fulbright Candidate, ~~~ CGS info blah blah blah ~~~~ IIE cannot guarantee that you will be offered a Fulbright award and/or a CGS tuition waiver, but it is required that all Fulbright grant candidates who are requesting an affiliation with a host institution that participates in the CGS Program submit their affiliation applications through this channel. This helps to streamline the application and visa paperwork process for all parties. ~~~~The online application must be completed and submitted by APRIL 30th, 2018. ~~~~ blah blah blah Please note that you are currently a recommended candidate for a Fulbright award. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we all await the final award decisions. Best regards, Fulbright China

China applicants!!!! I just got an email from Serena Han Bing about applying directly to our host universities. In the email it said we would probably find out results in mid to late April! to quote: "I know that you are currently awaiting the final results from this year's Fulbright competition, but they likely will not be available until mid-late April."
-
I just referred to my old application for part of an essay and accidentally opened a new application for 2019-2020 ... and Fulbright sent me an email with the headline "Fulbright Application...". Nearly had a heart attack. >< >< >< It was just an automatic notification about the new application I had just submitted. China always notifies people really late in the year... Usually late April or early May, with the earliest notification date being April 6th last year, but I don't expect them to have them out so quickly this year. I can't deal with this gut wrenching feeling every time I hear a pop in my inbox for another month!!! Any other China hopefuls out there? Some commiseration would be much appreciated.

@johndoe1234 No way, thats so funny! And yeah I think I allocated like $1,200 for flight... It looks like it will be slightly more but honestly I am happy to pay the difference if that means I can get 20 grand in return haha.

I just found this forum! I'm a sophomore at Georgetown University, majoring in Regional and Comparative Studies, with a concentration on the intersection between international security, gender, and human rights in Northeast Asia. I applied for the scholarship to spend June 2016 - February 2017 interning and taking classes at Yonsei University in South Korea. I am SO NERVOUS... I want this scholarship so frickin' bad and spent months on my application >< I did not receive a second budget update email, but I did receive the first one. I had to make some pretty major changes (the tuition to go through a program is a lot more than enrolling directly, but my school wouldn't let me do it independently -.-), but the final amount was approximately the same since the program covers housing and some other things. I really hope that doesn't affect my results ^^;; I recently found out that I got a grant for my internship/research in Seoul this summer, and I could potentially use some of that money to get to Korea sooner (before June 1) and more cheaply... Should I book the tickets now, or wait until the Boren results come out? I don't want the price to go up too much, but I also don't want to pay for a ticket that I could potentially get for free... Also, my original first choice was Koryeo University, but I had to switch it to my alternate (CIEE Yonsei) because my school wouldn't let me apply as an independent... I indicated the tuition change in my budget update email, but I didn't say that I had switched to my alternate program... Should I say something now, or do you think it would hurt me more than it's worth..?
