  1. While I heard back from York yesterday, I was too paranoid to accept the result until I received the letter. The letter came to North York today! I have been awarded a Bombardier CGS! Score was 14.7 in the social work committee. I have 2 journal articles, 1 book chapter, and 4 conference presentations. This whole thing is a crapshoot, and I suggest that folks not give up. This is my third time applying (direct entry + year 1). Last year I received a score of 12.6 with 2 journal articles, 2 conference presentations. The year before a 9.6 with 1 journal article and 1 conference presentation.
  2. I just heard back from SSHRC: 7.6 and 5.0 (out of ten) 12.6 42% Success rate The top 86 applications in Committee 4C were offered a Doctoral Award Your application ranked: 90/205 I wish folks who were waitlisted and obtained a fellowship could respond and let us know the likelihood!
  3. None of the waitlisted got funding? That's a little inconceivable to me. Look at all the people that will be turning down CGS because they are attending school in the US on this thread alone. I mean, if every turn down leads to an extra 25k in the pot, a little more than 3 people rejecting should allow for one doctoral fellowship (assuming that they don't upgrade fellowships to CGS based on people turning it down).
  4. Well, I hope we both get in, the cut off was like 62 right?
  5. ok, finally got the mail! after 10 business days. The envelop looked like it'd been soaked.. So, no mistake from York unfortunately. I have been waitlisted in Committee 4 with a score of 12.6. (As a direct applicant the previous year, I got a 9.2. I have since added 1 journal article and 1 conference presentation, for a total of 2 and 2). Fingers crossed that my ranking is decent. Good luck fellow waitlisters!
  6. I actually called them last week and found out I am waitlisted :/ I am anxious to know where I rank and crossing my fingers that they got things mixed up lol.
  7. Anyone still waiting in toronto...? Canada post saying that they can't do anything either without tracking :/
  8. Wish they took into account region. It should ot take two weeks for it to arrive in Toronto :/
  9. Already did. They won't do it .. yet. I at least confirmed they have the right address, but they said I have to wait until next Monday before I can ask them to give me the result in some other manner.
  10. I am really starting to think it's been lost in the mail. Still nothing in Toronto.
  11. For those still waiting: SSHRC just sent me this: "We ask that applicants wait two weeks from the mail-out date for results before contacting SSHRC about receiving their results in an alternate format, to allow for any potential delays. If, by either this coming Friday or next Monday, you have not received your results package, you can request to receive your results electronically. To do so, please contact fellowships@sshrc-crsh.gc.ca."
  12. Don't know about US, but I don't think we have that here in Canada.
  13. Urghhh.... still no mail in Toronto (North York). That means at least another three days with the weekend coming up. You've got to be kidding me.
  14. Well, SSHRC I feel would likely have given me the info had I just told them: yes, I had received the package and just needed further clarification ... but I didn't want to jinx it or piss someone off I needed help from later on.
  15. Some from Etobicoke appears to have. But not hearing anyone from North York (me) or downtown. While I heard from York that I am waitlisted, my attempt at getting more information from SSHRC directly has been unsuccessful with SSHRC saying 'wait for your package, before coming to us'.
  16. You've got to be kidding me. Still nothing in Toronto (North York).
  17. Damn, that email address has an auto-reply saying four days for a response.
  18. I was 20 away from Vanier :/ ... we really should have proper funding for all graduate students, instead of having everyone churned through this process. Makes sense. In case people are curious: social work committee, 2 single authored publications, 2 conferences.
  19. Well, also on the wait-list. Just called the research officer. The whole process is confusing. Always knew it was hard to get, but don't know how I was top 10 at York for Vanier .. but not top 50 or so for SSHRC.
  20. Ooph... I wish I saw this earlier. I've worked with her before for my Vanier app and she's always been very helpful. Unfortunately, I called right as the office closed so had to leave a voice mail. It really frustrates me that SSHRC can't streamline this process a little.
