Hey does do any people here know what Laurier's 2 year MSW schedule looks like? Or if there are any people here who currently go there I'd love to talk!

Course info (not a schedule unfortunately) is found here: https://www.wlu.ca/programs/social-work/graduate/social-work-msw/program-details/index.html
Course registration opens mid-May, but before then you might find the Fall 2017 schedule on here: https://telaris.wlu.ca/ssb_prod/bwckschd.p_disp_dyn_sched

Is there a FB group for Laurier MSWs this year? :)

    Hi everyone,

Congratulations to all those who have received acceptance to their university of choice!

Does anyone know when Laurier will be releasing acceptances to the part-time MSW for Fall 2017?

    Thanks!

I also applied to the part time program, and in the email after I sent in my application it said part time letters go out in the end of April. Hope all is well for you!

Yeah for the 2-year program.  I JUST got the email like 3 minutes ago and it's changed on LORIS.  I've already accepted Western's offer though so I'll be declining Laurier's as a lot has changed for me since applications and I can no longer relocate to Kitchener from London.

    Congratulations! Oh boy that's exciting!

Where did you see that it changed on LORIS? :) I've been wondering where to look haha

My logins on LORIS have definitely increased in the past few days, because I know results are coming any time now! I believe if you are accepted it shows up on LORIS right? Does anyone know if there's an email notification to let you know to check LORIS?

I'm a Laurier undergrad student and I've recieved emails to check my LORIS account before, so there should be something sent out, hopefully!

Does anyone know how it works with Laurier - rejection or acceptance - based on last years forum?

Do we find out by mail first, does it show up on our LORIS, etc?

I'd like to know this too! :) Like really, should I be checking my email, LORIS, or mailbox? Not like I don't check each one every day already... haha

  6. Hello! I've been scrolling through this feed for a while now - I applied to Laurier for their full-time program and the part-time program. The waiting has been brutal!

I was wondering - I have some job interviews coming up this week. How do you suggest I share with these potential employers about how I'm waiting to hear about school...?

One job is a 'real job' and the other is a summer seasonal job. If I am not accepted, I'd obviously want to take the full-time year-round, 'real job' offer! But, I don't want to accept that job only to leave before my contract is up. What would / have you done?

    Thanks! Happy waiting!

  7. Hello, I'm new to this site and I'm wondering if anyone has some wisdom to share.

In 2015 I graduated from Laurier with a 3-year General Arts degree, and now I'm returning Fall 2016 for one more year to upgrade to a 4 year Honours BA in combination. I want to be very intentional during this year to prepare my application for a MSW at Laurier. What would you suggest?

I haven't calculated my hours, but I'm volunteered for the past 10 years with various groups. I've been a camp councillor, youth community group leader, volunteered at the Ray of Hope community centre, Laurier's Peer Help Line, The Working Centre, as an equestrian therapy lesson volunteer and I spent a year living in an intentional community learning about relational leadership, then we travelled for a year working with youth ... but, I have a two/three year gap in my experience. In 2014, I was diagnosed with adrenal exhaustion and left Laurier, my job and spent my days resting. I was fully burnt out. Over the past two years I have learned more about holistic health and been on a healing journey. I've learned a lot from this experience

I'm continuing to be as an equestrian therapy volunteer, but where else would you recommend? Are there some certificates I should also be getting during this year?

As I researched next steps and what jobs I was interested in, an MSW was always a requirement, but I'm open in terms of what area I specialize in. Part of the challenge I'm noticing is that on paper (my resume and degree) I don't think I look like I'd be suited for social work, but in person I've had many people suggest it. I have a high cultural and emotional intelligence, but you can't get a degree in that just yet.

I'd love to just hear your thoughts and suggestions. I'm open! Thanks so much.
