  1. Mine's still pending too. Already losing hope... :'(
  2. I hope that's true!! Except I remember when I applied for 2015-2016 cycle, something came along after "pending" before it was shown "decision." Can't remember what it was. I'm expecting Madison next week and since it's February next week..omg. Let's hope for the best!
  3. Is it still early? I'm not sure. Based on the previous cycles and the timing of the interviews, I'm expecting to hear from them this week.
  4. Congrats! mine still says pending...............................................
  5. I'm not 100% accurate and certain, as are many others here. Anyway the bottom line is that those posts are trolls.
  6. Well, I would also add that Berkeley would accept many more domestic students than intl students. and the results page shows one domestic and two intl students (one with US degree)z the ratio is off and so it's a troll. btw the posts are gone now!
  7. Berkeley can't be real. They don't notify international students acceptance at the same time they notify domestic students. It's based on my observation of previous cycles
  8. Me too. Received about 10 rejections for 2015-2016 cycle but wasn't really disheartened I must say. I wasn't in the right state of mind when I applied, which explains the sloppiness of my application and SOP. I also must add that this forum has been really helpful when I applied for the 2016-17 cycle and I hope I can really pay back soon upon news of acceptance.
  9. Yeah, OSU is going to come in soon.
  10. Good luck for GWU! I just received an email on the decision. ha.
  11. Me too! Well, wish us both the best of luck!
  12. Princeton's results are coming in earlier than usual...
  13. Congrats! Mind if I ask which school contacted you?
  14. Thanks!!! Yeah I just saw a post on the Results section. I haven't gotten any news from there. Probably time to say good bye..!
  15. Anyone heard from OSU? Based on previous cycles, some people must have done interviews in the second week of January.
  16. I hope this is true. I'm kind of starting to panic because my advisor hasn't submitted his recommendation for schools that are due on the 15th!!
  17. Thanks for the quick and precise reply. It makes things clearer now. I was wondering about this because the instructions only specified past and future research without mentioning the regular SOP stuffs like faculty. So I presume all SOPs should include those points even if the instructions are phrased differently?
  18. "This one- or two-page statement states your reasons for undertaking graduate work and explains your academic interests, including their relation to your undergraduate study and professional goals." Sorry for any confusion. To rephrase my question, do I have to include in my SOP the faculty I want to work with and why I chose that particular school even if the SOP instructions did not mention these? Hope it's clearer now!
  19. If the instruction requires me to state reasons for something but does not mention at all about stating my faculty of interest and why I chose that school, do I still have to include these things? Or would they be considered redundant and give a bad impression of my SOP?
  20. Sorry for intruding, but if a department specified that the SOP be one to two page long, would writing a single-spaced two-page long SOP be considered excessive?
  21. Don't know if this helps but I e-mailed one of the programs and asked if I could submit a History paper with implications for IR when I'm applying to IR and they replied it's fine as long as the committee knows what I'm writing about so I guess quality matters more than how related it is to the program you're applying...
  22. Hi everyone, I'm still working on my SOP, CV, and maybe schools even (still not finalized with which schools to apply to). Applying to IR as my major subfield and Political Theory as my minor or second subfield. Hoping to get into OSU or GWU. This is my second cycle so I really do hope I can get in this time. Please!!!!! Meanwhile, good luck everybody
  23. Hi all, I'm applying for PhD in political science this fall and am aiming for top 20 programs in the U.S. I just graduated from an Asian institution which is top 3 in my country. I was just wondering if another student from the same home institution getting accepted into the same program this year (2015-2016 cycle) would affect the chance of my acceptance for 16-17 cycle since most programs prefer diversity. Not sure if I'm making sense here. It's just that I feel that programs are less likely to accept applicants from the same institution especially in the case of international students.
  24. Would it look weird to the adcomm if I have two of my three thesis committee members to write my LORs. The third professor for the LOR I'm thinking of is one I took a class in my MA program. And the third committee member I'm not planning to ask for LOR is not the main advisor but he kind of hated my thesis (topic and everything) so I was wondering if I should still ask him.
