I was the one who said there might have been a limbo email. The lady on the phone wasn't sure and everyone I've talked to that wasn't rejected hasn't received one either.
-
Both my profs didn't put HM on their CVs. I wonder if they were as dissapointed as I am right now.
-
HM gives you absolutely nothing. Except for computer time to run simulations...ugh.
-
wtf? So before NSF got stimulus money, you're saying they were projecting a maximum of 1600 awardees? How does that make any sense under their old budget?
-
we all really don't know but definitely don't get your hopes up.
-
look on p.2 of that presentation to see award projections.
-
what I do know is that there will be additional awards. But whether it is a significant number or not, no one knows.
-
https://webspace.utexas.edu/moontj/IMPA ... l%2008.pdf That's where Im getting that figure. Do NOT get your hopes up. It's mere speculation.
-
He said that to you? That's a bit harsh.
-
honestly none of us know how many more awards will be given out. Could be from 0 to 700 more depending on funding. Additionally, we don't know the motivation for this first group of awardees. Is the reason they were notified first due to their ability and merit? No one knows. Could be a convenience thing too.
-
Supposedly we were to be sent a limbo notice, not award (horrid typo)...lol. But you can call and confirm. They are pretty nice on the phone.
-
Dont be scared. I just called, and she confirmed I'm in the second batch of people who are being reviewed for an honorable mention or award. She said that those in limbo should have received a limbo notice and that we'll get an update by the end of next week.....
-
I'm just wondering if we can call or otherwise confirm if we are on the rejected list for those of us who didn't get an email.
-
Yea...so those of us in limbo might be in the same rejected boat soon, don't worry..=). Has anyone tried calling to verify that they are in limbo and what their chances might be?
-
I just called and theres no timeframe for anything. Additional awards, REJECTIONS, and honorable mention will be made. Even for majors posted. For those rejected, has your fastlane status changed from submitted? The lady on the phone said that should be definitive, with those in limbo still having submitted as status.
-
I'm very sorry you didn't get an award. You seem like a genuine person and definitely one that is deserving.
-
Not sure...sigh. I might have been rejected, and never received the email....
-
cosby, do you notice anything different about your fastlane log in page?
-
So, I sort of clicked on that link earlier from the fake email. Did anybody do that and still get an email? Stupid i know..=).
-
I also noticed in 2005, 1024 awards were made. If stimulus money really is here, the final number of awards should be higher than 950. All will be clear in the morning, hopefully.
-
So the moral of the story is the people at the call center DEFINITELY know whats going on. Someone predicted this exact scenario (awards and rejections would go out in an initial batch). I pray that there is substantial followup funding. If they really did send out rejects, with the remaining ones getting HM or an award, that means something like 8000 rejection emails were sent tonight. That sounds sever and doubtful. In summary: keep calling NSF, but do with it politeness and do it sparingly. I did it only once, today during the whole process. And it was definitely helpful.
-
For the civil people out there: 10 awards this year vs. 31 last year. Heres to hoping...=(.
-
Your scenario doesn't make any sense. I was at a party and my friend got it and I didn't. I was thrilled for her nonetheless. No email for me yet. Sigh.....could mean limbo for bad news that will come much much later.
-
To Snowcap: Psh...you have a NDSEG already. No complaining..=).
-
i am already in grad school. choose wisely..=), and probably independently of the NSF if you can.
