... And it looks like Stanford ICME offers went out.
-
Someone just posted that they got into the Stanford ICME master's program! Any word from the PhD program?
-
I'm some of both with an applied math/stats slant: Stanford ICME, UNC INSTORE, IUB Stats, and NYU CDS, along with a handful of data science-oriented CS departments. All I have so far is an online video chat interview from one of the CS departments with a PoI.
-
The results survey says someone had an interview for the NYU CDS PhD program last Saturday and according to the interview he's expecting a final decision within a week or two. So things aren't looking great for those of us who haven't heard back ...
-
If you're applying to PhD programs maybe end of March to early April.
-
Not there for me (unless I'm not seeing it). *panic intensifies*
-
Yup, hence my panic. I'd think that unless they're paying for tickets/hotel in full, they'd notify you at least 2 weeks in advance to make travel accommodations.
-
https://icme.stanford.edu/admissions/requirements "Ph.D. Admit Weekend is scheduled for February 16 and 17, 2017." So I guess it's closer to ~2.5 weeks.
-
No ... Would that be a bit too forward?
-
Any word from Stanford ICME? They're having their admitted PhD applicants event in two weeks ...

Suggestion for Masters program in Mathematics
poopyhead replied to Sambit's topic in Mathematics and Statistics
If funding is a necessity, your best bet is probably going to be asking if you can be a TA.- 2 replies

So I guess this concludes yet another week without hearing back ...
-
PhD applications need to be in by April 15, so they'll be first.
-
Or if they're all rejections tell us quickly so we can mourn.
-
Imagine not hearing anything for another two weeks! Ahhh ...
-
A program I applied to said I need to send them a "degree conferral." I responded asking what that would entail, and they haven't emailed me back yet. Does anyone know what this is? If it's something like a "proof of graduation" wouldn't my transcript cover that?
-
I wish there were a way of knowing this before applying.
-
Ah, okay. I knew there were three programs, but I figured that since they're within the same department they'd be reviewed by mostly the same people. And no, although I did apply to the NYU data science PhD program (I'd say my top picks would be NYU DS, UNC INSTORE, and Stanford ICME, although the chances of getting in any of those are slim). Good luck to you as well.
-
I thought it was the same department (stats and OR)? Anyway, I'm waiting as well ...
-
It looks like they're having an event for their admitted students on Feb 16-17. So we should hear back in around a week or two?
-
Or just one offer. With funding so we can actually attend/study. Maybe. Please?
-
In that case should we be expecting interview invitations soon? Assuming we're in the running for a spot, of course.
-
Ooh, okay, I didn't catch those in the survey because I was searching for "university of north carolina" instead of "unc". Welp, please excuse me while I start panicking.

NYU Data Science PhD--Do I have a chance?
poopyhead replied to poopyhead's topic in Applied Sciences & Mathematics
Actually, yeah, I was surprised when I heard NYU had a data science program considering that their math department was known for not doing statistics. -
Any word from Stanford ICME, UNC INSTORE, or IUB Stats?
