Has anybody gotten their interview itinerary for Columbia CMBS? Interviews are next week and haven't heard from them.

I've been in touch with the coordinator, she will be sending them out ideally end of day today, if not over the weekend :) They were having some troubles with PI scheduling, and also have 38 or so people attending the January interview weekend, so it took a bit longer than they expected.

  2. Has anyone received a rejection from Rockefeller/know if they're done sending interview invites? From previous years, it looks like interviews came out all at once around this time of year, and then the next day rejections came out. But I haven't seen any rejections on the results page and only 4 interviews?

I'm holding out on scheduling another interview until I know about Rockefeller!

So my mentor from my masters degree did not submit my letter of rec to a program that was due on Jan 1st yet. I just called them and told them that I was contacting him ASAP to see why and to ask him to submit it.

The grad admissions administrator told me that it is not a big deal, they are already reviewing and that everything is in already so not to worry about it. She said it was "okay" that only two were in, makes me really nervous. I still want him to submit it, my research is amazing, my grades are OK.. this could make a big difference. Do you think they will even look at it if they receive it almost two weeks late?

Man, that's rough. I'm sorry you're dealing with that! Super stressful. My naive feeling is that you might as well? Then they would have it on file in case they were feeling generous enough to go back and look at it, or were revisiting documents to decide between a few candidates post-interview.

Since this is a letter related to your MSc, I imagine this is one of your most important letters? No harm in having it on file just in case?

Me too ? but followed up with good news – an invite from Rockefeller!

Congrats you guys! Were you given a choice between the two weekends, or were you assigned one?

Thanks for your reply, and congratulations with your interviews. Can I ask which programs you are invited to?

At least I can see it's the case with Upenn - they do skype interviews with internationals. It is sort of a shame. I would have enjoyed the whole tour with interviews and social events etc.

Well right now, actually, even an interview on mail will suffice.

I hear you! It sounds like some programs still offer in-person, so fingers crossed for you to get a few of those :)

So far I have interviews with MIT BCS, Harvard BBS, Columbia, Dartmouth PEMM, Tufts Neuro.

Congrats! I was thinking they were done. You've given me some hope that I might yet hear from them. So far, I've gotten 6/9 interviews, but MIT is my top choice.

I noticed that you've applied to both neuro and bioscience programs, like harvard's BBS. In retrospect, I wish I done the same since some of the labs at Harvard that I wanted are neuro labs but also available to BBS applicants. Given that this was such a competitive year for PiN, applying to BBS was probably a good way of getting a foot in the door even if it means not being a member of PiN.

Keep the hope! I had given up, so it came as a major surprise :) They called me, so it would make sense that it takes time to work through all of the applicants that they're inviting.

At the beginning of the cycle, I was going to apply to PiN, but I'm an international applicant and my understanding from previous applicants was that PiN takes fewer internationals than BBS. BBS has sooo many labs under their umbrella, including many neuro labs that I was keen on, so I knew I'd be a a happy BBS student!

    Hi all.

    International lurker here.

I haven't heard a thing yet, and I am a bit surprised. Got good credentials and pretty good GRE scores.

Applied for NYU, Cornell, Columbia and JHU.

Has any internationals heard anything yet? I keep telling myself that internationals will be invited later cause they will not participate in the official interviews on campus, but on skype instead. Can someone please confirm this and calm my nerves?

Thanks. Congrats to all of you with interviews!

I'm an international, but I'm currently in the US doing research so my case might be different than yours. It might be that domestic/locally-residing applicants are contacted at a different time since, as you said, the interviewing process is different :)

    Hello all!

I thought reading about others experiences in the process would dampen my anxiety a little - boy was I wrong!

    Here is my list:

    MUSC (interview 19-21 January)

    UVM (skype interview 24 January)

    Brown

    BU GPN

    Tufts Sackler

I saw earlier that people had heard from Brown, does anyone know if that was their only wave of interview emails (for both the regualr and NIH collaboration)? Also, has anyone heard from Tufts or BU GPN?

Also, feel free to PM me! I'm a relatively new lurker on the site and would love to chat!

Congratulations to all those who have gotten interviews, and best of luck to everyone through the rest of this process :)

I heard from Tufts Sackler Neuro on the Monday before Christmas. I reached out to BU GPN and they said they won't be meeting/reviewing applications until January :)

    Hey Everyone!

Finally got around to making an account.

My list is: UChicago (BMB), Northwestern (IBiS), UCSD,  UCSF (TETRAD), UWashington, UMichigan (MCDB), Yale (BBS), and Columbia (Cell and Molecular).

So far I've heard back from UChicago (12/12), Northwestern (12/7), UCSF (12/15), UWashington (12/14), and Yale (12/15) with interviews! :D Has anyone heard anything back from the schools I haven't heard from yet? Thanks, and good luck to everyone!

Hey! Congrats on hearing back from so many awesome programs :) which Yale BBS program did you apply to? For Columbia, did you apply to the integrated program in cell/molecular? I heard back from them Friday for interview.

    That's super exciting! Congratulations!

Does anyone know if different departments in Yale's BBS program release at different times? I applied for Immunology and still haven't heard anything (obviously haha).

It looks like each track has its own timeline for reviewing, interviewing and making decisions (according to their website) :)

Eagerly awaiting interview results from Rockefeller, Columbia, Weill Cornell, NYU Sackler, Yale, and UPenn for neuroscience!

Apparently Rockefeller won't be sending invites until January :( Did you apply to Yale BBS-Neuro track? When do they normally send out interviews? I'm eagerly waiting on this one as well!
