Oh wow, I applied to TC too but I double checked (just now actually... Your comment made me nervous!) but they accepted my Edinburgh transcript. Like I said, on one page of the transcript, they include rubrics for what the grades mean in the UK (honors, second class honors, passing, etc.) and an estimated equivalent in the US. That's extremely frustrating though. Have you called the admissions offices? Maybe they're just slow on updating the website.

I did. Been in constant touch with the admissions team. They've been very slow on responding. ECE has assured me that the transcripts have been mailed on 13th Feb, TC hasn't downloaded it yet. I guess nothing left to do but wait.

I must compliment Harvard on the amazing promptness with which they handle the whole admission process.

I was accepted to Penn's IEDP-M today. Anyone else?

@cokpala: Congratulations! This is fantastic news. :) I've applied to the same program.

Turned in the application late December but thanks to the long process of international transcripts evaluation, my application is being considered only this week.

@rockrmoose It's for IEDP. I think I'd regret not paying for the evaluated transcript and losing the chance for a spot at Penn so that's why I went through with it. But yeah... Getting rejected from Penn is probably going to sting a lot more than a rejection from the other schools I applied to just because of the $200+ course by course evaluation. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen to me, or to you!

Praying with you on this one! for all of us!

I had this issue too. I only studied abroad for a semester at the University of Edinburgh. The courses showed up as credits on my undergrad transcript (though it didn't show my grades) so I also submitted an unofficial transcript from Edinburgh, which listed the courses I'd taken and my grades. The last page of the transcript also had a chart with the suggested US equivalent of the grades (e.g. 70-100 is an A). Penn told me I still had to submit an evaluated transcript for the classes, so that was $200+ I had to spend.

I would call, not email. I applied in mid December, emailed them right away when I saw that my application was incomplete and they didn't respond until I sent another email in early January. Though this was right before and after the holidays so maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

Also, just venting now, but none of the other schools I applied to asked me to send in a course-by-course evaluation for the semester I spent abroad. At the time, I seriously considered just scrapping my application to Penn since I'd be paying $200 just to have my application be considered for admission.

Going through the exact same, annoying, frustrating stuff with UPenn and TC, Columbia both. Did the whole process with ECE, spent over 240 USD and still my transcripts haven't reached both institutions. This is very frustrating considering my original docs and a copy of my report has reached me back in home country and yet it hasn't reached both these schools within US. And aren't these sent online? I can't seem to figure out what the hold up is? And the responses from admissions teams in both schools is tardy, to put it mildly. Will my application even be considered now? It's Feb 20th already....in about 2 weeks, decisions should start to roll in from all schools. I have an admit from Vanderbilt for a Masters program and that's keeping me from totally losing my head.

At this point, I have a strong urge to just let it go and not check both websites at all. But considering the effort I have put into this, I can't even seem to let go. :(

Yes you need WES/ECE evaluation done by the admission deadline for TC. And you are right, it's expensive as well. The entire process of sending transcripts and then waiting for an evaluation takes time too. I think you should call the admissions office and see if they can accommodate a late submission for your application.

@Mithrandir27 : Thanks!I've been in touch with the admissions office. They are willing to allow for my ECE evaluated transcripts to reach them. Of course, my application won't be touched until then. :(

I was accepted to the IEPM program today! Any one else out there who applied for IEPM?

I did and got in! Yay! So excited :) I wasn't at all expecting to hear from them so soon. However I do wish I had a better scholarship deal - I got the Iris Scholarship - 2k.

  7. Hey guys,

    I've applied for a Masters in International Comparative Education at TC. I've already uploaded my 4-year Engineering course transcripts . After submitting my application, I saw this on the application portal checklist;

    X      Awaiting Course-by-Course Evaluation

Do all international students have to submit a WES or ECE evaluated transcript at the application stage?I thought this is something we need to do after getting an admit? It's pretty expensive too - about 250$! Any advice, help, suggestions?

  8. Got an email today from HGSE Student Aid Portal!

Boy! Are these guys efficient! Meanwhile Penn Admissions office takes two weeks to reply to a single email.  Anyone else heard from HGSE?

Freakout Question - I just checked my application status and noticed on the list of "Received" items, there's no option for my statement of purpose. This is for the Teaching and Learning program.

Anyone else have this missing from the application checklist? I know I wrote one and would have definitely uploaded it before submitting. I assume it would have kicked back the application if it was incomplete. I'm just psyching myself out at this point.

Don't worry. Mine doesn't show SoP either. Just GRE, TOEFL scores, University transcripts and LoRs

I applied to the International Education Policy and Management M. Ed. Program! Anyone else apply for IEPM?

I've applied for a Masters in IEPM too. All application materials seem to be in place. Can't expect to hear back from them before March I guess.

  11. Hi everyone,

This is my first post on GradCafe! So glad to have discovered this space where our collective wisdom and anxiety can be shared. :)

    Program: IEP
    GRE Score: 160V/156Q/4.0AWA
GPA: 3.53 (Undergraduate degree in Engineering)
Work Experience: 8 years in all. 2 years in Engineering sector after which I made a switch to education, two years teaching at an under-resourced school, a short international internship and the past 4 years leading a teacher development organization that works with public school educators.
Undergrad Institution (Public, Private, Ivy, etc.):  Private (Not one of the top schools in my country but a decent college)
What Other Schools Are You Applying To: Penn, Columbia, Vanderbilt

Does anyone have on tips for SoP writing based on your experiences? How many reviewers do you plan on?

Also, in the applications when they ask for no. of years of experience - do we mention upto the point of application (Dec 2017) or upto  Aug/Sept 2017?
