May I ask the source on the fewer students?

It goes by program, but at this point, I think your chances are a little low - I would go ahead and book your other interview. I heard about a week ago for Biomedical Informatics - all who got invites heard within an hour of eachother. Granted, Biomedical Informatics is a much smaller program than Cancer Bio, but should work similarly.

I know a guy who got an invite Friday evening. They may be still going out though... Cancer bio is definitely a bigger program.

I'm in the same boat. I had no idea where I would be competitive, so I applied to a whole range of schools... I think, for me, as well, I want to see the differences between the schools and figure out where I would be the best fit and where I should go... I want to let my experiences at the school help me decide where I want to go- talking to professors and interviewing. Obviously, I definitely have a ranking list, but I think it is rather fluid. So yeah :P.

I think I'm going to 9 interviews currently. 2 down, 7 to go, with maybe an additional one coming. Although one I already went to was a phone interview for UWashington.

I would pop them an email or a phone call and ask :). Rejection letters don't normally happen til much later in the process, so you wouldn't normally get one til later (think March).

I'm waiting on that as well, although I will likely withdraw from Berkeley.

Yep :). I'm in my last semester of undergrad at the moment.

They will send out emails next week. International students - I have no idea. We got calls yesterday, but we are domestic.

They will arrange a shuttle at different times to get us to Yale.

Same. That's killer. I wonder how many they interview.

I think Cornell Tri is totally the better catch there

Very true. They are envolved with CAPRICORN, though, a cross-instituation research initiative for biomedical informatics and they are beefing up their computational chops are Northwestern. Haha. I'm from Loyola University, on the north side. Where are you from?

Will it make you look bad? Nope. To be honest, you have more math and computational background than I do and in this current application cycle I'm getting interviews at Columbia, Yale and Cornell, to put things in perspective. I know several people from previous years get into Comp Bio programs with almost no Biology knowledge - so you shouldn't have a problem. Comp Bio is a cross disciplinary field. Got to know a lot for it. Don't worry about "starting late". I started research my junior year, and currently have 4 papers out, with 1 first author - with another 4-5 projects that can turn into papers. Show off what research you have and get involved. Present at conferences, etc. grad schools care more that you know what you're getting yourself into than if you took microbio or not (I never did). General rule of thumb- aim for 160+ for both Quantitative and Verbal. I'm applying with a 166Q and 160V and it seems to be fine. All in all, I would say the best thing to do to boost your chances is do research. Don't worry about the classes. Don't stress too much about the GRE (practice though). Focus on research.

No instructions, sadly. They'll probably come out soon, as the interview is only a month away. Another result to add - got an interview for Northwestern DGP - Biomedical Informatics focus.

Yeah. I'm from Chicago. Chicago-San Diego and back is 400 on the dot. Not sure exactly how to finance the whole Chicago-San Diego-New York thing... Another thing- UCSD ends on Saturday. Cornell is on Sunday. Whatcha planning to do about that?

I think UCSD gives us $400 dollars to arrange travel and Cornell gives $500. Don't quote me on that. I'm in the same exact boat- we should 100% try to get on the same flight :). Hit me up!

I haven't heard back from anyone this week - so a lot are =P. Depends on the school! Cornell Tri's website states that they interview about 20 and accept about half (there were 13 students that entered in 2016). I think about 50% is normal-ish. Probably higher for a lot of schools.
