Goin to Brandeis. It's a dream program, dream offer. With 5 rejections it was still the best case scenario. I loved it from the moment I started researching schools and I can't believe THIS is the school that accepted me.

It has been frustrating. I have a few real actual practical questions that I would love to post to this thread but I have actually been very apprehensive. I'm seeking advice, not condescension

Seriously. This is going to be what future cycles take from the 2017 thread? Maybe some of the veterans need to chill if they can't interact with new people with some grace.

As others have said, it isn't over until it's over – and it's almost over! If it turns out you aren't accepted this year, though, apply next year. Acceptances come down to quite a bit of luck. A good friend of mine (who was in her thirties when she applied the first time) was rejected from every school she applied to the first time round. She considered giving up, but instead spent the year refining her applications, working to pay the rent, and interning in her field (architecture). The following year, she was accepted at ALL of the top architecture programs. As @Antebellum said, if you know why you want to go to graduate school, go to graduate school – of course with your eyes wide open about job prospects, heh, but don't take the results of this cycle as indicative of the results you'll get if you apply again!

Congrats! I actually graduated from undergrad (History, Literature double major) from Pitt and now work there. Putnam is amazingly friendly and personable. PM me if you want any other info about the History Department (or English Department, the Children's Literature Certificate) or about living in Pittsburgh, housing, campus, etc!

Thank you for this input! I am really hoping to get the chance to work with Dr. Premo
But after T H R E E application seasons, I got my first PhD admit! It still doesn't feel real? But I'm sure I'm 100000% happy about it. I was admitted to Pitt, and I love the work Putnam does (and it's actually in my region!) and I'm v interested in children's literature, and there's literally no better place to be than Pitt for that.
Congrats to the other UPitt admits! And good luck to those still waiting to hear back.
I'm still waiting on IU, anyone ese? I feel like IU is a stretch for me because my GPA and GRE are pretty middle of the pack, but I name dropped jk, but I am hoping our mutual relationship with the UCR (Costa Rica), will give me some sort of "great fit" edge. I'm so anxious!

Just got into Columbia! Email to check website.
Got dumped by Yale and Brown (history of science concentration) yesterday, was pretty depressed, even though both were back ups. Brown is a great program.

As a 1st year Africanist focused on 20th century Congo, this is glorious news!

Northwestern decisions are out (some of them, at least). I just received an acceptance via the Graduate School.

thekatieladybird reacted to JessicaLange in 2017 Acceptances
Hi, so I received an Acceptance email on Tuesday. I actually didn't want to open it, because the email just said Admission Decision. Very ominous. But I figured I would open it and then go to whateber online portal later and, to my surprise, it said Congratulations!
It's DePaul University. It's the only MA program I applied to so it's kind of Plan B, but I really like the program, so as far as backup plans go, it's definitely one I'm happy about. And it's so much pressure off of me to know that I can get 8 rejections and still be going somewhere in the fall.
Feel free to post your acceptances here. And maybe Rejections and Waitlists as well if you feel comfortable with that (unless you want to start a separate thread).
