Got rejected from UW-Madison literature study this morning (Beijing time), heart broken. Over 200 applicants this year, less than 14% of the literature study applicants are receiving admission offers. Let's say 20 admission offers? HUGE numbers considering only in one area group.

I contacted the UMN Graduate Admission Coordinator to ask about my supplymentary materials, and I mentioned the early acceptances. The coordinator said Yes, the others are awaiting program decision for two more weeks. I think this is a normal situation for every program. So let's be patient!

@othersamantha, thank you for noticing that. I chose "No", but I don't know if it will have any bad effect on my application.

@imogenshakes, @RydraWong Thank you both! I am waiting for a second-round! I do hope they would like to have at least one student who is interested in contemporary poetry. And @imogenshakes, do you think I should contact my POI at this time to ask about the status? He is nice but I don't know if it is appropriate to do so.

@RydraWong, @imogenshakes Congratulations!!! Can I ask about your areas of study? My SOP focuses on the Literary Studies in UW-Madison. Since my application status is still pending, I am wondering if the department has different timelines for different area groups.

Thank you, engphiledu. ❤ It seems Emory is highly competitive. I applied to NYU, Wisconsin-Madison, North Carolina - Chapel Hill, University of Pennsylvania, University of Florida too! But my research interest lies with postwar poetry and poetics. I wrote to Heather (Coordinator for Graduate Studies, UMD) 3 days ago, she said We are engaged in a holistic review process that will roll out in several steps with different timelines for different area groups within the department. This process is on-going. We anticipate that some offers will go out in February, though other offers may go out later. But she didn't answer my question about the interview.

Hi Does anyone receive the interview invitation from Emory University or University of Maryland-College Park? I saw someone put the results---"interview via Email'' on the forum, but I haven't receive any notifications from these two programs. No interview means little chance of acceptance, right?
