  1. Which post? Edit: nevermind, I found it. xD
  2. This is very helpful, thanks! 2 will be satisfied this coming Wednesday, so I'll give it a bit more time.
  3. Ah! I just re-read my email and you are correct! Thanks for pointing that out. I did not read it carefully because I was really excited, I think. That actually solves my problem!
  4. Yeah, I am in at Brandeis (MA) and got my notification on Wednesday but they are only giving us 3 weeks to decide which makes me especially nervous because I think I might be on at least 1 invisible wait-list. I think I am going to wait two weeks, and then just ask everywhere that I haven't heard from.
  5. Ok, question for everyone, and I am sure this has been talked about on this forum before, but: how long is it appropriate to wait before soliciting a response from a particular department if you know that others have already gotten responses from them, and you have other offers that you are seriously considering but would reject, if you got into said school?
  6. I want to upvote you but I ran out of upvotes today!
  7. Very cool. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for the next 48 hours or so!
  8. Congratulations! May I ask who emailed you?
  9. It's still so early on the west coast.... it's barely 8:00am.....
  10. Also accepted to Brandeis MA with $10,000 scholarship, TA-ship and more potential funding!
  11. I also thought of Brock! Do you think that it would really be a poor choice to do anything other than comparative philosophy? I totally understand that their department is predominantly comparative, but they do have a few very strong faculty members who solely do continental (and specifically French, i.e., Rajiv Kaushik, and Murray Miles) philosophy, it seems.
  12. This makes me feel very hopeful!
  13. Firefox actually did this to me when I went to submit my Harvard rejection last week as well!
  14. Got my Harvard rejection last Friday. I was expecting that one, it would have been a big surprise had I even made their wait list. Keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of my list!
  15. Dang, I applied right around then as well and haven't heard..... probably not a good sign. :-/
  16. When did you submit your application and when did you hear back, if you don't mind my asking?
  17. Hey Sam, I will see what I can do and send you as many predictive dates as I can get together!
  18. Congrats!!!
  19. I think they had some bold or red text on a page related to admissions / applying about how "certain deadlines have been extended" but that was pretty much it. So, yes I think a very vague statement was simply put on their website, but that's not especially helpful.
  20. @Coconuts&Chloroform I'm technically in the same boat of not actually knowing, but, from what professors of philosophy have told me, yes they definitely matter, especially when related to your AOI / to philosophy in general. I think that what @sleepingsusurrus said is spot on too, if the extracurriculars help you to glean necessary skills to become a better philosopher then, of course they matter! I would imagine that conference presentations and paper publications (I think those count as extracurriculars) weigh in big time as well.
  21. I've been feeling that a bit too about UBC, but at the same time I think it's also good to get everything in early because then perhaps they can be looking at yours beforehand.
  22. I'm feeling really tempted to start a "Tell Me Your Application Stress Dreams" thread if there isn't one already.
  23. @gradcoffee Their application website. The deadline used to be January 9th, now it says Feb 7th. Check it out:
  24. Just came here to say that I had a happy/stress dream last night that I got wait-listed at Harvard. That is all.
