Hello, and thanks for doing this! I am a US citizen deciding where to do my PhD in public health. I have been accepted to a Top-10 (but not Top-5) program in the US with a team that that has an exceptional publication record, and a not so well known university in Europe with an excellent supervisor who is well known and respected and who was previously at a top university in the US and maintains her links there (and whom I currently work with). Both programs are funded; the European program is better funded but has fewer coursework/training opportunities. Do you have any sense of the perception of Europe v US programs? I want to pursue an academic career if possible, and feel it might be frowned upon to pursue a degree in Europe as an American. Thanks!!

Thanks for this post! Did she give any insight about some good ways to pursue programming / coding over the year? I am in a similar boat (though my interests are more related to global health / health systems) but I am interested in cost-effectiveness modelling and received feedback that it would be useful to gain more experience in R/ Python/ Stata.

It looks like last year they had 2 rounds of interviews and were hearing about the second round in early Feb.... I had one Skype call 1/10 but haven't heard anything since....

I was contacted for a Skype call on Jan 24/25 (I posted on the results page) . It was only 2 questions long and the connection was really bad, so it's hard to call it an interview :/ ... But that's the timeline they gave. That's the only info I have...

Also, for Harvard PHS I heard that each department has to come up with their list, and then the overall PHS committee has to meet and finalize their decisions - and that should be happening within the next couple of weeks. ( I applied for GHP)
