Hey guys anyone hear from anyone about anything? :)
-
When I spoke with schools last year about why I wasn't offered admission it largely came down to the generic answers that we all have heard. I think the best you can do is strengthen your areas you already listed, and make sure your are picking strong letter writers, and really conveying your love for the field in your personal statement. I would also recommend taking an online class in some related area of study in the interim to show your desire to continue your education with or without admission this cycle.

First off, that sucks I am sorry you had to deal with that. I think it is largely up to the program, but I would say shoot them an email with an apology if you haven't already, just letting them know you recognize there was a delay etc? I'm not sure, but I feel like if you're a strong candidate they won't discount you terribly for that.

I am bummed too, I have only gotten one interview so far and this is my second cycle applying. My heart is of course set on NW so fingers still crossed for that, but I'm worried with everyone who has talked about getting rejected from programs they were waitlisted at last year. I even went and met with the coordinators from the program over the summer at NW in an effort to see what I should improve, but I'm now anxious that will be my situation. I think I'm only sharing so that I have voiced my stress to a group of people who can really relate.

My guess is you’re waitlisted for an interview because Brandeis sent out a boat full of rejections already?

Anyone else get a random "your application is being reviewed" email from Emory today? Or ever? And if so, how many of you got interview offers vs rejections after that? Trying not to get too excited since it's likely meaningless...

"The IUGCP Admissions Committee will review applications during the first part of January. We anticipate extending invitations on January 23rd to applicants selected for interviews, which will be held on February 12, 19 and 26." This was their email on 12/6/18

How many other programs (Emory, Case Western...) do we think have similar situations? Like does anyone have any reason to suspect that either of those programs have finished inviting people and that they are just holding off on sending rejections..? These are the thoughts that keep me awake at night... lol

I haven't heard from Brandeis yet, I kinda think no one has? I'm reapplying this year and trying hard not to be nervous about the fact that I haven't heard from Case Western or Emory yet despite both having made invites already. It's so stinking hard to predict anything, despite having improved my stats and experience I still don't feel confident since there are just so many of us that are so qualified that are applying and only so many spots.

Hi guys, So I applied to a few programs last year and got waitlisted for interviews in a couple places, but I am realizing I largely chose schools willy-nilly without much consideration. I am living in Chicago and my first choice is Northwestern for that reason and because I like the fact that their clinical rotations start early on, the quarter system, and the fact that they allow you to potentially complete clinical rotations over the summer abroad. Other than that, I don't really know how to best pick programs. I have since found that Boston also allows for rotations over the summer abroad, and starts clinical exposure relatively early on. Any recommendations on other programs that follow this trend/other things I should be considering?

I have to say, I've been depressingly watching everyone on this forum post and post about all the schools and interviews they've gotten, making each rejection worse and worse. Then finally on Friday I got waitlisted for an interview at Northwestern and I was on cloud nine. I'm starting to realize that it's basically another rejection though, as I'd only get an interview if someone cancels theirs, and that's assuming I am at or near the top of the list, correct? And chances of someone cancelling their interview are slim too right? Because you won't know if you got in to the other schools you interviewed at until the acceptance match day thingy? Ugh, so my little cloud nine moment, and with it my hope, is quickly disintegrating.
