It finally asked me to change my password yesterday, and at some point it clearly stated that applicants are required to change their passwords every 180 days (along with how frequently various other types of people using Fastlane had to change their passwords). Did everybody really miss that?

Seeing how sensitive people got over usage of the word "gay", it would be pretty easy to flamebait this thread to 200 in a few days.

I think no matter what, I need to come up with something that requires supercomputing power. Even if I don't get access to Teragrid, it looks like my university has some damn sexy supercomputers available. I'll call your dual quad-cores and raise you a 256 nodes of dual quad cores with 16GB of memory each.

I heard about a GSI at my school that was trying to look up one of their female students, and accidentally typed the student's name into the "update status" box instead of the search box. They got flustered, didn't know how to undo it (because it would probably stay in people's feeds even if you deleted it), so out of desperation they decided to disable their account to prevent it from being seen. The next day they remembered their facebook was registered under their undergrad e-mail address, which they no longer had access to, so their facebook page was gone forever.

Unless they send decisions tomorrow (more or less out of the blue), it looks like I'm going to be done for the semester before I hear back.

No ozone warnings, as far as I know. No matter what you get charged an orientation fee, though it might be the kind of thing your department covers if you get tuition remission (I doubt it, but it's possible). It's kind of crap, because I won't be able to make a single orientation event with my department's orientation and qualifying exams.

Having maybe 10% of people in limbo is better than having 100% of people in limbo. On the application, you list your desired graduate school. That's not necessarily where they're going.
