  1. Hello from Seattle! I'm ready to never leave my phone/laptop today...
  2. @nanz If you're in need of entertainment.
  3. @nanz @solica I think I also recall some MCHI+D applicants getting decisions later at night this year (was it 10pm PST?), so perhaps the HCDE admissions committee also won't adhere to typical working hours... I went through my inbox and found old graduate admission decisions that also came out a little later in the day than expected (6-7pm).
  4. @solica Thanks for sharing this information!
  5. Ooooh no! I really, really hope we don't have to wait past the 15th! @cuddles I wonder why too. Perhaps more applicants than usual? More borderline cases?
  6. @bellis Aaaand I just did the same. As crazy as all of this is, it makes me feel better than just doing nothing...
  7. @bellis That's EXACTLY my train of thought. I even added a Gmail Labs feature that changes the icon on my email tab when I get a new email... Not that that stops me from manually refreshing my email every couple of minutes.
  8. @nanz It seems like the past two years, acceptances went out on a Wednesday (9th in 2016, 11th in 2015)... Not sure if this is an actual pattern, or just me being obsessive I've been constantly refreshing my email and application page too.
  9. I really hope we're not going to have to wait till Wednesday for HCDE news! I don't know how much more of this I can take...
  10. Also, faculty outside of the admissions committee seem to not really be in the loop about it. The other day an HCDE faculty mentioned not knowing when decisions come out, or even who was on the committee.
  11. @siitrasn I agree with you in that HCDE seems like a particularly good fit for research-oriented applicants. On the one hand, this makes me feel like I might be a good candidate, but on the other hand I don't want to think that since I'll be even more disappointed if I don't get in. I'm in a similar boat to you, with research experience but no publications. @cuddles I've been doing the exact same! It's horrible having this constant feeling of dread... I really hope we find out before the weekend!
  12. @123abc Congrats, that's awesome! I definitely had a mini heart attack thinking HCDE was en route...
  13. I'm sorry to hear about the rejections for MHCI+D For those who applied to HCDE, what area of specialization did you indicate -- research/design/engineering? Also, what category does your background fall into -- technical or engineering/social sciences/design? Or something else? For the latter, at an info session they mentioned trying to maintain somewhat equal proportions for admitted students, so now of course I'm freaking myself out and overthinking everything. I'm interested in research, and I have a social sciences background.
  14. @bobilu87 I should! A few years ago, there was actually a situation where I accidentally overheard part of a grad admissions committee meeting for a program I was applying to... Oh gosh, and I'm sitting in a building on campus, and just happened to look to the left, into a room with the words "Admissions Updates" on a slideshow. There's seriously no escaping this... Also, don't give up on MHCID! If it's anything like HCDE, the portfolio is totally optional -- so fingers crossed!
  15. @bobilu87 Aw I feel your pain! It's so stressful when there's so much riding on one decision. I'm actually going to be in the HCDE department later today (for something else), so there goes my plan of trying to distract myself...
  16. @bobilu87 No worries! I only applied to one program, HCDE, so that's why I'm extra nervous about it! What about you?
  17. @bobilu87 No data on waitlisted individuals -- they're probably lumped in with offers/rejections https://grad.uw.edu/about-the-graduate-school/statistics-and-reports/admissions-statistics/
  18. @bobilu87 As a semi-international student, I guess I'm glad I haven't heard back yet! Do you mind if I ask how you know about this?
  19. Do you mean this year?! And it's definitely nice to have the camaraderie of other people freaking out too!
  20. For HCDE, I think that in past years decisions came out in early March, prior to the 15th (I think last year was the 9th, and some rejections were even earlier, in late Feb). So I'm essentially in constant freakout mode
  21. @bellis I also only applied to HCDE! Gah, so nervous...
