    I am from the metro Detroit area and have been living in NYC for the past 5 years. I'm headed back to attend Cranbrook this fall in the 2D department. This is coming in super late and you've probably already made your decision but from my knowledge I can say London would give you a much better network (at least from what I can tell). But coming from experience in my own working habits, I think there is something to be said about the seclusion of Cranbrook from a large art market. It truly is a magical place with real deal faculty and I think judging it from that angle, it is an unrivaled program. Best of luck! What did you end up deciding?

    Ah yea totally fair. With graphic design I think it presents a really interesting problem of how much client / personal work to show and it can all vary so much. I'm wondering if I didn't lean in heavy enough to personal / fine art based work for Yale and went for the more flashy looking "professional" pieces. The endless "what if's." Either way, I appreciate you sharing your experience, it really helps to hear someone else's process with all of this. Good luck with the rest of your schools and your final decision!

    Thank you! I have taken time off yea, I finished undergrad in graphic design in 2013 but applied and pursued more fine art based work throughout my degree. I fear I've gotten too swept up in the "commercial world" of graphic design in NYC and somewhat lost touch with the more academic and conceptual rigor so to speak that is needed for graduate school. But you're entirely right, the application process alone has been very informative and quite the learning experience and could very well be picked up again next year. Thank you for the reply! How is your decision process going? Congrats on your acceptances so far!

    Feeling very discouraged by this entire process. I've gotten into NC State for graphic design and have an interview at Cranbrook (2D) but the rest of the schools I applied to, Yale (rejected) U of M (seems like rejection) and RISD (also looming rejection) I can't peg down any sort of reasoning, really wish there was a way to get feedback. Does anyone else feel this is much harder to navigate than undergrad? I knew it would be difficult but wasn't expecting so much confusion. Congrats to all of you on the good news! And good luck to everyone still navigating.

    Ah got it, ok thanks for the info, not sure why they didn't just relay that to all applicants as well. Congrats on your offer! It sounds like you got one?

    Same thing happened to me, haven't heard a peep aside from that. Kind of getting mixed signals now that others are getting interviews and accepted already. What does it mean??
