  1. Thanks for the reply. You're definitely correct in that it is much better that they actually take the time to review the application rather than toss it out due to some specific criteria, and you make a lot of other good points. I am obviously stressed about this whole period, such as many others on this site are, and after months upon months of having a wall blocking you from seeing your future or being able to make any life decisions has been taxing. I suppose what is getting to me is the system of admissions itself. It's a perpetual cycle where no one is accepting offers because they are waitlisted elsewhere due to others not accepting their offers due to being waitlisted at other places. I think if anything it's not UT Dallas that is annoying me it's the fact that we have to put down a tuition deposit when we are not even sure about the decisions of other schools. Being in graduate school for 2-3 years and living off of loans or part time jobs is a stressful place to be and any money that can be saved, be it a tuition deposit or not, is money that could really help, especially if you end up moving for school. I understand that schools need to know that you're dedicated to attending but I feel like there should be two deadlines, one where you accept/decline and one that is for the deposit. That way you have the opportunity to hear back from other schools where you might have been waitlisted. I know it would take a lot of work but I think it would be doable. What do you think?
  2. I spoke with the front desk about this today since I've yet to receive a decision as well. The front desk lady says that they can still make a decision after April 15th and that they'll be doing rolling admissions for the next 3 to 4 weeks. They aren't doing a waitlist, they just aren't making decisions, even if it's after the typical April 15th deadline. She did say though that if you have another offer that you should call a week before the April 15th and let them know that you are trying to make a decision and she said they would consider that. Frankly I think that's bullshit. If most Texas schools have decision deadlines of April 15th then they should abide by that deadline. They know better than anyone the stress that we all go through during this time and the significant decisions we have to make (moving, financial aid, program types, etc.) and here they are taking their sweet time. They should at least be waitlisting people, not dragging out decisions. It almost makes me hesitant to go to a school that pulls this crap (if of course I get accepted). Rant over.
  3. @minti13 Thank you so much! Ughh mine says "complete ready to review". I hope that isn't a delayed rejection and that they only accepted the first round of people haha congrats though!
  4. What portal are you guys looking at? I didn't know they even had a portal haha I'm nervous that I haven't heard anything! I hope they don't send acceptances first and then rejections :/
  5. No but I saw on the admission results page that someone was rejected because they didn't get an LOR submitted in time. I think that rejection may have come earlier than others because the application wasn't put up for review. I have no idea when they release decisions though. It's my top school so I hope we hear soon!
