Arkansas I would have to TA, but that would be good experience for future jobs. Suchhh a hard decision. I have NOT gotten a finalized financial aid package from the New School. I think it's best to wait until I see exactly what it is, and then maybe I can negotiate more. AHHH! Thanks ya'll. It's alll almosssst over.

Hi all, FIRST OFF, congrats on everyone who's accepted at wonderful places. And for everyone still waiting I hope the waiting ends SOON! Wondering if some of ya'll might give me some input. Currently accepted at both The New School and University of Arkansas. New School offer is unofficial--I emailed them to inquire about my status because I got the offer at Arkansas, so if you're still waiting on New School, don't freak out! New School is: awesome because it's in NYC. Also very expensive because it's in NYC. About 75,000 in loans (probably) and that's if I find a way to make money and pay for my living expenses by working a whole bunch in the summer. Are the connections and network of NYC worth that money? I'm not sure...I love Lucy Thurber though. I also grew up in a rural area under similar circumstances as Lucy and I feel like having a mentor that understands that could be really life changing Arkansas: No tuition, plus living stipend. More freedom to do what I want (I also write non-fiction). I'd graduate without any loans, might even be able to pay down a bit of my existing $10,000 of undergrad loans while I'm there. I also love the program head there (John Walch). But it's in Arkansas. And I worry about not making those NYC connects that will help me get productions in the future. I would have to hustle those connections on my own by making trips back and forth to NYC. Sounds doable but also not as efficient as going to New School. oh god what do I doooooooo. How do other people feel about taking out loans?

@captbaka congrats on the UT interview! and congrats to @brillantina at New School. Deborah Stein from UCSD emailed me to schedule a phone interview this morning. I also applied at New School, but haven't heard anything so I'm out there. I applied at UT, but only to Michener (stupidly). Wondering if those interviews are conducted separately? Things are probably v disorganized there right now with the faculty change. Woooweeee here we go. This is my third time applying. Best of luck to all of you! It's all gonna be over soon!!!

Nothing so far. I feel like I've heard of quite a few people not getting rejected yet, so I'm wondering if they had readers comb through the applications first and now the faculty is reading what the readers passed on? This is pure speculation.

Hmmmm my Yale status still says "submitted." Did anyone's ever change to "under review" at some point? I just checked since folks are getting rejections...I had some weird issues with my application and now I'm wondering if it ever even got reviewed. Lol.

It's literally just us @JsMono. We are the only three that applied to MFA programs this year Are you in Austin? I am also in Austin! I keep meeting all of these Austin playwrights through these forums, it's crazy!

@TBA1982 Yale, Brooklyn, UCSD, and UT Austin...had interviews at UT and UCSD but nothing from Yale and Brooklyn. You heard anything yet? Ahhhh the waiting game.

@SeaLou I am in the same boat with UCSD. I called a week ago to as if I'm on the waitlist at all, and they said the same thing we heard earlier, that admission was offered to three people and all accepted. Soooooo. I think they just forgot to reject us. Nice to know we made it further than most though. Friends, has anyone heard of schools offering financial aid packages year by year? I'm accepted at UCLA, but they offer aid packages on a yearly basis. This makes me VERY nervous.

Also got my Brooklyn College rejection. Is it weird that I was rejected from the two east coast schools I applied at (Brown was the other) and am accepted at UCLA and effectively waitlisted at UCSD? Is there some aesthetic differences based on region that I'm unaware of? Or maybe east coast schools are just more competitive? Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

@SeaLou Also, weird, I thought they did interviews...hmmm maybe a symptom of the recent cuts.

I caved and emailed UCSD. They said if you didn't get a rejection, you're still being considered. Which makes me think they're choosing who to interview right now.
