There's a chance that another school may still admit you. But at this point, if it happens it's likely because someone is taking a long time to make a decision on whether or not to accept or because someone has changed their mind about attending and they need to find an alternate candidate.
I think you have made a wise decision to attend your safety school. Congrats on the offer!
Yeah I think so too, thank you!

It's almost end of April. I am beginning to wonder if some of the Canadian places will respond at all. Do they also send out offers in May or are they just not responding because they have rejected me?
I tried emailing one of them and they said they have said they have sent out round one of offers but I am sure that was quite some time ago. The other two haven't responded to my email.
Yeah all of the Canadian universities still haven't given me any response, I gave up and settled in my safe school. I've seen people get accepted in May and even in June, but who knows whether or not they got early unofficial offer from POI. My suggestion is keep sending emails or simply call the graduate offices, there's still hope, but if you got a plan B, it's time to start preparing. That's what I did.

Does anybody know the best resource for finding a one bedroom or studio apartment for summer sublet in Gainesville? I'm trying to avoid renting a private room.
What time are you going to stay? Is there a price range? There're tons of subleasing in summer time, but they usually don't post online. You can call the managements of different apartments and ask them about summer sublease. I might have some friends' moving out this summer, if you can tell me the time and price maybe I can hook you up...

Hi,
I have applied to Queen's and McMaster's in Canada for M.Sc. mathematics (International student). So, clearly I didn't receive an offer in the first round. But any idea when they send a second round of offers? It is already April and it seems not getting accepted till now means a rejection.
Do Canadian places stipulate that people who received offers in round I make a decision by April 15th like in the US? If so, do I stand a chance of receiving an offer after April 15th?
I'm not sure about Queen's and MacMaster's, but I recently talked with several professors in U of Toronto and U of Alberta (casual talk on a conference), it seemed they haven't made the decision and they're not in a hurry. They don't have a April 15th deadlines so the decisions may be late, also the admission decisions. So... hope for the best! And prepare for the worst...

Virginia Tech, UC Davis and UMass Amherst left. I got rejections from Ohio State U. and U Colorado Boulder. My field is RF/Microwave Circuit
I'm also waiting for all the programs, without any AD for no less...

No hope! it is about to turn April
What program are you applying? Because APEC conference just ended, lots of professors went there and didn't have time for admissions. I met several of them, they said they're still evaluating. Finger crossed and hope for the best!

Oh don't be sorry, he was my first choice but not my last option. I have a lot options so losing one is no big deal in the grand scheme. The professor was upfront about it. Total class act. Biomedical.
Another institution has offered me a very large funding package and I have options (waiting on funding for others and direct-entry PhD)Wow! Congrats! Sounds like good money!

I accepted PhD offer in ECE.
I am an international student
worried about the funding though. Basic support looks very stringent after deducting taxes.
Did anyone receive any scholarship?
Congrats! What track are you in? I'm still anxiously waiting....

Well just a few minutes ago a POI indicated that he would not be extending an offer. Quite disappointed but it is a competitive field.
Sorry to hear that, may I ask what track you're applying?

It seems all over the place. U of T gave me an acceptance decision by February 28, and UBC only on March 22.
I heard that some UBC programs are really behind on their application review. You should follow up with a polite email and find out your status.
Congratulations for the ADs! How I envy you...What programs are you applying?

I don't think so. Most of the people I know who applied to Canadian universities, including the ones you applied to, have still not heard anything from them. I think its pretty common, so patience my friend.
That's comforting, thank you!

Hello everyone! I applied PhD programs for 3 Canadian universities, U of Toronto, UBC and U of Alberta. None of them gave me any information up to now. For universities in US, if one doesn't heard from the universities by now, the chances of getting in would seem very slim. Is that the same case for Canadian universities?

Same boat here, I've been able to keep my email/application-status checking to once a day. However, I've been like this since early February when I started finding results for my programs on the result page. The wait is absolutely brutal, at this point I just wish I got ANY response just to end the suffering.
Totally, especially when I saw other people post admission in the results, all hopes are lost

March 15 came and went away, but I heard nothing. Turns out my irrational fear wasn't truly irrational as such... Now hoping I hear back by March end..
Me neither... what programs are you waiting for?
-
They never could make the deadline, I applied 6 programs this year and I'm still waiting for 5 of them. Basically all of them said the results will be out by mid-March on their website. The waiting is total agony.

Yeah, it's definitely not a good thing to ignore such a request/invitation to that school. But, maybe they don't really care so in the best case scenario, this has no effect. But to me, ignoring them like that would suggest to the school that you aren't really that interested in their program and they would move onto someone else who showed interest in visiting or at least discussing it further with them.
On the bright side, this is only one program and you're not rejected until you're rejected. Maybe you'll get a response from the program director. You should also consider emailing whoever sent the invitation in the first place (if it was not the director). However, I also hope you take the opportunity to learn from this mistake. In the future, if you are applying to something, you will need to make responding to emails somewhat of a priority even when you are super busy with other important things like your defense. It would have only taken you a few minutes to write a response to ask for a later visit date due to conflicts with your thesis defense. Since you didn't do that, what kind of message does it send to the program?
Thank you very much! That helps!

Hi everyone! I have a question about campus visit. Here the thing, I applied for NEU for a phd program in ee, couple of weeks ago I received email invitation for a campus visit. I was so busy with my thesis defense that time and I did't reply, after I'm done with my defense, I found out that the campus visit date has passed. I emailed the director and got nothing.
So does it have bad influence on my application? Cause I haven't heard back from them since then...
-
Totally agree! At least some souvenirs... come on!

So many interesting plans! I was gonna move back to my home town, find a dead-end job and devote the rest of my life in alcoholism. But I think it's not so terrible to do some volunteer work, gap a year and apply again.

Very true. I do know that RIT closed earlier this week due to inclement weather. I figured I'd wait until this coming Wednesday before I tried to contact them.
I saw your website BTW, you're very talented! Hope you can get a good result!

No, it is rf circuit design. Should I assume all rejections?
I don't know... People keep telling me to stay positive, but I just wonder if they've already rejected me and haven't sent out notification.
RF is a promising field, I wish you best of luck!

Still waiting from RIT. They said I would hopefully hear back before March 15th, but that didn't happen. I wonder if the fact that it's spring break right now has anything to do with it.
I thought that too! Then I saw people getting results in spring breaks as well... Staff and faculty they still work during spring breaks...

I am also an EE PhD applicant. I applied Virginia Tech, UC Boulder, UC Davis and UMass Amherst. I just had 1 interview. I mailed 9 profs and only two responded my email. No acception/No rejection. Still waiting...
What track are you applying? I'm guessing power...?
Do Canadian universities all have late notification?
