  1. That’s awesome!! Congratulations!!
  2. Would anyone like to claim the UIUC acceptance? I didn’t receive any e-mail.
  3. Hello. Good to hear from another international applicant. I’m from Southeast Asia, and I’m also still waiting for results, though fortunately I’ve got one acceptance already (what a relief!). For me, the weird thing about this entire process is that I’ve been so self-conscious about my being different (i.e. not being an American citizen or having an American education like most everyone else). I can’t help thinking that everyone must be so much more advanced than me, and that there’s no reason for schools to accept me when they have so many other, more well-trained candidates. And then I wonder/worry if my status as an international would in any way affect how they review my application and the kind of offer (or non-offer!) that they would make. I’m probably just overthinking everything, but yeah, there’s that. How about you?
  4. Aaah, so that's why. All right then, thanks! And congratulations again on your acceptance and fellowship nomination. I hope it turns out perfect for you.
  5. Is anybody else waiting on Illinois Urbana-Champaign? I know @Warelin got an acceptance from them already (right?), but does that mean they’re done with acceptances or...? I need to hear from them and make my decision soon, since I have a lot of paperwork to do (international applicant here).
  6. Thanks and good luck for the rest of your schools! I see you've got some real nice acceptances there
  7. Thank you again for the input! This is really nice to know. You're awesome!
  8. Wow, okay then. So maybe there's hope yet for funding. (Dare I hope? That's probably unwise lol.) Anyway thanks for the insight! That's super helpful!
  9. So you didn't hear about funding right when you heard of the acceptance? The person contacting me also didn't mention any funding from the university, but she did mention the external funding that I already had, so I thought they're not giving me anything more because of that (despite claims that they fund everyone).
  10. Aaaah okay. Thanks for the info! That's a relief.
  11. I have one question about what happens after an acceptance. So if you receive the good news via phone call, how long does it usually take for the school to send you an official letter of acceptance (they do this, right?) and also further instructions on what to do next? I haven't heard back after that phone call, and now my brain is telling me what if they got it wrong and I wasn't supposed to get accepted after all....... Probably just being paranoid, but I'll breathe a little easier when there's some real official proof to cling to.
  12. Thank you @bumbleblu@jpbends!! And congrats to everyone else who just got the good news recently!
  13. Nope. Cellphone reception was very bad. I didn't get to ask anything, sorry. I hope you're one of those people, though!
  14. Maybe because I’m an international applicant living in Southeast Asia, and they were trying to get around the time difference? It was 7:30 PM my time. Thank you!!
  15. Hello! I've been lurking here forever. Sorry I was too shy to join in the fun earlier. I just wanna say that I've just got an acceptance call from Penn State like an hour and a half ago. So for those who are still waiting to hear from this school, know that they're still sending out acceptances today! Hope you'll hear some news soon. This waiting game is definitely... uncomfortable, to say the least.
  16. Hi everyone! This is my first post, but I've been lurking around here a while. I'm very glad I found this site. I'm hoping to apply for an MA in English, with concentration on rhetoric and composition (although I have only very little experience in that specific field, haha). I have a BA in English... but I live in a third world Asian country, and English is not my first language. Not sure how that's gonna affect stuffs--hopefully not too badly! I'm just really hoping I'll be good enough for U.S. universities. I've got my university list pretty much fixed (I'll be applying to 5 universities). Right now I'm preparing my application for a scholarship from my government, because there's no way I can get myself anywhere without that. Unfortunately that means I'm a bit behind you guys in preparing my university application. I'm planning to catch up later in the summer. Best of luck to us all!
