I was 21 when I began applying. 21 when I will enter the program
(late birthday haha). Got in right away after my undergrad - applied to 6 schools, got into 3 (1 being my top school), wait listed in 2 schools and rejected by 1 school! My program mostly takes older candidates, so I think the average age range is between 23 and 25! Good luck.

Hello gradcafe community!
I recently got into a rigorous GPA-heavy master program in Canada (Speech-Language Pathology). I currently have a 3.83 GPA, however I am a bit worried that my grades will drop (they will lol). I am thinking that my final semester, I will receive 1 A, 1 A-, 1 B+ and 1 B-, making it into a 3.43 GPA. Best case, I'll get a 3.5. This is because I took hard classes and I haven't done well in them + the whole stress of the application process really killed my motivation. I was wondering, can my admissions get revoked??? I already payed my registration fee to the program, so I am a bit worried. The admission letter simply said 'successfully pass all of your classes' since it is a condition acceptance!!!!! Worried here, thanks

Hello everyone
I have recently been accepted to both Western and Toronto. I'm not too familiar with the strengths and weaknesses, so if there are any students out there willing to help me out in terms of choosing between the two, I would be eternally grateful! I am more interested in working with the children clinical population if that matters and I am coming from a big city!

Also, what does conditional acceptance mean for both UofT and Western? Do any of you know the required minimum GPA? Thanks

In Canada it's provincially regulated on whether or not you can practice without an exit exam. Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) is the exam, and to the best of my knowledge it can be written two times a year, once in March and once in September. So basically, certain provinces require you to have passed the SAC exam to be able to practice, and some don't. Our program has had meetings with representatives from SAC to give us information, and our class also has two student representative for SAC.

I was wondering if anybody had any information on the speech-language pathology praxis exam? Is this an American thing, or does this also apply for students prior to getting certification as an speech-language pathologist in Canada? I.e., does anybody also know if we have to take a test at the end the program or can we automatically get a job? (a.k.a is there such a thing as the 'Bar' exam (law) for speech-language pathology students?). Thanks

I got waitlisted by McGill this week. Does anyone know how many people were waitlisted at McGill/if there is currently any sort of ranking system for people on the waitlist?
I've also applied to McMaster, U of T, and Western; I interviewed at McMaster last week. All ORPAS schools, so the suspense of waiting 2 more weeks to find out those results is killing me! I can't stop refreshing the website even though I know results won't appear till the end of the month. Ahhhh!
Currently, there is no ranking system at McGill. They told me it's against their policy to release the specific positions, which is stressful since I was also wait listed! Good luck!

I called this phone number (416) 978-6614 and explained the situation. All they required was my OUAC reference number, name, and birthday and they were able to tell me that they have received my application and should be receiving email confirmation this week.
I received an email from Sarah (the admission coordinator) and she told me they received my application but there is no portal (if I needed I had any more questions, I should contact OPRAS directly). So I am a bit confused in terms what specific portal is their for UofT?

What email did you use, this one: (slp.admissions@utoronto.ca)? I applied in December 2017 so I am a bit confused on why I haven't received any updated from UofT!

For those who applied to Dal, could you do the program in 2 years. I have a psychology & linguistics background so could I get some courses accredited for? Also, they want the GRE in hardcopy format, how long does it take ETS to send the scores...does it take more than a month?

Hi!
Yes for sure! My sub-GPA was around a 3.91 if I remember correctly and my cum-GPA was about 3.85. I received a scholarship in my second year and volunteered and worked in a few labs on campus as a research assistant in unrelated topics (attended McGill). I did a lot of S-LP volunteering, mostly with children with language issues (around 5000 hours or so), less with articulation therapy. Um, also did a bit of aphasia stuff (less than 6 months). I also volunteered (and I'm still volunteering) at a non-profit! I definitely have less experience than my cohort, which was a bit shocking but this year we have a varied cohort in terms of ages and background. But I definitely think my GPA and my letter of intent were my strongest part. I also did the GRE but did awful on it (20th-30th percentiles).
