  1. Alternates, take heart! I, too, was an alternate for the Full Grant to Germany, and just found out yesterday that I have been promoted to receive the award. Oddly enough, I first received a hard copy of the letter in the mail yesterday, and this morning received an email. I wasn't expecting to hear through snail mail, so it threw me for a loop! The letter was sent to my current address. The wait is long and painful, and it's incredibly hard to be stuck in limbo as an alternate. Good luck to all of you- and remember that perserverance is truly important! This is my second attempt at a Fulbright, and I was already preparing to write a new proposal for next year. I have friends who received a grant on their third and even fifth try!
  2. hey liz, congrats on daad! so, when exactly did you find out? and what would you do if you found out you moved up to grant status in the fulbright? and did you tell the fulbright about the daad? just curious... thanks
  3. hey liz, here's hoping things will turn out well for us! it's frustrating to still be waiting, but at least there's still a chance... good to know about your friend in the Japan program. What kind of program did you apply for? (i'm a musician). i applied for the daad as well, but haven't heard anything, which i believe means that i am also an alternate for that program- i think the acceptances and rejections went out already. what about you?
  4. hi- i applied for a full research grant to germany, and found out today that i am an alternate. the letter was postmarked march 10. anyone familiar with what the chances of an alternate for germany being bumped up? thanks, i've been reading this thread for a month or so.
