  1. I was so glad to find this thread! I'm 36 - will be 37 starting school next fall - single w/out kids, but still nervous about school (and the debt that goes with it) at my age - I just keep reminding myself that ten years from now I'll be glad to have the degree. I'm in NYC too (going to NYU) - so are most of you working while going to school? I've had a great job the past few years, but its in the evenings - I thought "swell, it has some down time so I can go to school during the day and study at night" - turns out classes are at night - hoping something will work out - maybe I can arrange my classes for a few days/week and do the job a few days/week, but there's a good chance I'll have to leave the job. How are ya'll planning on swinging it financially? Will you just be going to school or trying to work some too? I'm so excited for my program, but nervous about how I'm going to pay the bills.
  2. Youch - no financial info till then? Is this true of all of Steinhardt's grad programs? I'm trying to figure out who exactly I would even call to find out about this (I got an offer and am trying to figure out if I can possibly afford it)
  3. I got an email first - finally got the letter/packet, but the funding info won't be sent for "a week or two" - aka awfully close to Apr 15. aaack

Hi, don't know what exactly your situation is- are you willing to have roomates or share? I've lived in NY since graduating from undergrad ten years ago and will be glad to give you realistic estimates for rent/cost of living expenses. Bottom line is basically - you can share in brooklyn/queens/inwood/jersey for much less than you might expect - under $1000/month. Now, I'm trying to figure out how/if I can juggle a full time job to still pay my rent while attending NYU myself, but just so you know, if you're willing to not be in luxary accomodations, fairly reasonable rent is possible - if you look around (I also personally might be able to hook you up w/ potential roomates/places to stay if you end up coming here - been here awhile and have lots of friends in the area). Feel free to message me if you want specifics
  6. Hi all - different grad dept here - Educational Theatre - but I got an email inviting me to an info session and saying my acceptance packet was on its way - for those of you accepted (I know, different programs) - was fin aid info in your acceptance packet? The wait is killing me! Stupid snail mail
