  1. They don't give funding. I'm in the program now and would answer questions if you want to send me a PM.
  2. When I spoke with a professor there he said that they are always among the last schools to notify. My suspicion is that the faculty submitted names to GSAS for admission last week, and there's a delay while GSAS does its work to extend offers. But, all of that could be wrong, and people just aren't posting on the forum. Offers may have already gone out to more than just Averroes and we could be in line for a rejection any day now!
  3. Someone claimed a theology offer on the 13th of February. They never posted in the forum to confirm it though. I also applied and I think we can expect some sort of word this week...
  4. My understanding is that there's a top tier of the waitlist (wording I heard from a professor there). People that they are actively interested in coming. But, they also refrain from sending out rejections to another selection of applications because they frequently miss on their top choices. So last year, a person I know was added to the waitlist on 2/28, but was never accepted. The person was in the second group of waitlisted applications.
  5. Yeah I really had my hopes up for that one. When that acceptance dropped on the results page, my heart sank.
  6. This particular line in the Yale rejection letter really made me laugh. "As you know, the very high number of extraordinary candidates among our more than 11,000 applicants far exceeds the number of places we have in each program, and we are not able to admit many excellent candidates."
  7. No I don't think it would make as big of a difference for an M Div applicant. They're going to make several new hires in the next two years, and then things will be good again (hopefully). But, for a PhD student it's a big deal to have this much turnover at the beginning of a program.
  8. I'm a Duke alum, and I can tell you that the program has major drama. They've been bleeding faculty members since 2016, so that's definitely something to keep in mind. It just depends on who you want to work with. If you do the "civic augustinianism" thing with some one like Bretherton then Duke is the answer. If you want to do literally anything else, I'd go to Vanderbilt. Duke's theology faculty is non-existent right now.
  9. Nice on St. John's! that was my top choice. I was also accepted in the Michaelmas term for Gates, which I also didn't get. I was offered a spot at St. Edmund's the international phd college, which disappointed me. I actually haven't told them if I'm going to take the spot that they've offered me. I'm not sure if another college would make an offer if I said no to St. Edmund's, but I'm not sure that's necessary either. Thanks for the info on funding. That's good news.
  10. Hey @sd_waco have you heard anything about funding at Cambridge? Have you been accepted by a college yet?
  11. This empty post was an accident, but funny responses to it.
  12. Can someone confirm that BC sent out offers? When I interviewed with them they said it would be middle of February before GSAS made offers.
  13. Does anyone know for sure if Harvard does PhD interviews every year?
  14. It helps to think of rejections as a difference of opinion or preference rather than personal judgment. Fit is ultimately the most important factor.
  15. Hello, Question about contacting professors. I have sent some emails to professors about their programs, but I haven't gotten a response right away. Obviously, profs are busy. But, what is the protocol on following up? I want to apply to these programs, so should I email again after a certain amount of time? Would appreciate hearing some suggestions.
