  1. It absolutely cannot hurt to try! That’s a good GPA, and I bet you would have a good chance of getting in. The main issue would be scholarship, because you didn’t apply by the priority deadline. I think a scholarship would still be possible, but not guaranteed. I’ve read threads from 2015/2016 where people applying after the priority deadline still received scholarships. Why not go for it?
  2. Much to my surprise, I was offered a Special Programs scholarship. I am thrilled. The overall cost is still quite expensive, but this makes it hard for me to say no to Michigan. Did anyone receive any sort of scholarship in addition to the Special Programs scholarship? I did not.
  3. I was accepted last week Now just waiting on the scholarship information. I know we're all guaranteed $20k, which is cool, but I'm hoping for more because Case is quite expensive. How much have other received in merit-based aid?
  4. I got $5k per semester too. So glad finally to have the letter! @mkern2 Are you sure yours is only for one year? That's how mine looks too, but then the last sentence says it will automatically be renewed so long as I meet all the basic requirements (12 credits, 3.0 GPA, etc.). So really, I'm counting it as $20k.
  5. Dang. Sorry to hear that it was lower than expected. Based on the few anecdotes in this thread, is seems like Pitt might be giving lower offers than in past years? If so, that's too bad.
  6. Was it for all four semesters, or only for the first two?
  7. Disappointing that they only offered a scholarship for one year! That’s weird. Pitt isn’t my top choice in terms of program, but it likely will be my most affordable choice. I’m out of state at all the schools I’m applying to, because I’m ready to move.
  8. Sorry to hear that you didn’t get as much as you were hoping for :-/ Where do you think you’ll go instead? Well, this marks the first scholarship received. At least we know it’s finally starting...
  9. Bummer that they won’t send an email or post it online in addition to snail mail.
  10. Thanks so much for the insight, Leah. A lot of that rings true based on my experience in cities like Pittsburgh. And I much prefer the west coast too. Still no new$ on my end. I even tried calling the school this week but no luck reaching anyone. Hopefully we begin to hear back soon (but I’ve been saying that for weeks).
  11. Hello Leah! That's great to hear re: the scholarship letters. When you say "yesterday," does that mean Monday or Tuesday? I ask b/c you posted pretty late at night And wow, you received an awesome scholarship. Thanks for offering to answer questions. How are you liking the program so far? Have you received much mentorship, whether from faculty, or in your field placements? And in general, how did you like your first year field placements? Finally -- how are your classmates?
  12. I’m in the same boat. Actually, Pitt will be the cheapest no matter what. So the question will be whether it is worth it for me to pay more to go to another program that is better for my interests. That will depend on HOW much cheaper Pitt is... Also, you definitely should get a scholarship given that you have 3.4+!
  13. I think Pitt will probably give an extension if needed. I hope I won't need to ask for one, but it's possible that I will still be waiting to hear back from one school by then. I really hope we receive our scholarship info this week! I hope it's true that it will show up on the Pitt portal, because it will be agonizing to wait an extra week while the letter winds its way through the U.S. mail system...
  14. Definitely not for sure. I'm not making any decisions without scholarship info! Meanwhile I received a good offer from one of my top choices, and I'm waiting to hear from a third. I probably won't decide for 3 or 4 more weeks.
  15. Still no news. The waiting game enters its (hopefully) final stretch this week...
  16. Oh interesting. The letter I received only said “merit scholarship awards will be mailed in February 2018.” There was nothing more specific. My letter was pretty recent, so maybe they revised it when they realized that mid-February wasn’t going to happen.
  17. Didn’t you say earlier this week that they told you “end” of Feb? In that case we have a fewwww more days. I’m ready to be done with this waiting!
  18. Do you mean the guaranteed admission for have a 3.4+? I have a 3.9 and no word on funding yet.
  19. As of this time in 2016 (according to that thread I linked a few days ago), it seems like all priority admits had heard about financial aid. Hopefully we'll all be hearing soon too!
  20. Ah, interesting. That might explain it! Do report back Especially if you see scholarship info!
  21. (1) A few days after submitting your application, you should have received an email providing you with login instructions for My Pitt. So you should be able to log in already. BUT the My Pitt portal is weird, and for most of us it still says application "incomplete" even though we have already been accepted via the Apply Yourself website! I stopped checking the My Pitt portal for admissions info, but now it sounds like the site will become relevant for finding out about our financial aid offer. I'll believe it when I see it, but I hope it's true, because I'd rather find out online than wait for a letter to cross the country. (2) Yes, I totally feel you. It's been 10+ days since my online acceptance and I still haven't received the original letter. I think this is typical, but still...I'd like to get it!
  22. Fair point about Denver -- they DO offer several full-tuition scholarships, which would be pretty amazing. And maybe they have other great scholarships too...I did a lot of my "research" just by reading threads on this website, which is probably not the most exhaustive source of information. And in the end I was too lazy to apply, thinking there was no way I'd get one of those full-ride scholarships.
  23. Oh, for sure. Some private schools have great funding opportunities, but a lot of them (Columbia, Penn, Denver) seem to be pretty stingy when considering the tuition amount and cost of living. My personal goal is to get my degree for roughly $45k debt or less. Which may not be possible...but fingers crossed! Chicago is great but I've lived there before and want to try something new
