Of getting an MSW in general? Definitely. That's why I didn't apply to any of the expensive schools in expensive cities. I don't think the U.S. News rankings are all that important when you're comparing schools among the top 20 or 30.

Ah wonderful, now I have a new reason to start obsessively checking a Pitt-related website! There was something nice to the the idea that scholarship info was being sent exclusively via snail mail, which I *only* receive once a day...
-
Ah, interesting—as in letters will be MAILED then? Did they specify whether it would actually be via letter or some other method? Thanks!
-
Is there any brave soul among us who is willing to call the school and ask when merit scholarship information will be sent for priority admits? I’m not quite there yet, but will probably work up the courage in a few days if I haven’t heard anything.

Nothing for me. You?
-
Congratulations! When did you apply?

If you don't mind my asking, what debt load did you take on in getting this degree, and how are you feeling about that choice? WUSTL seems like a wonderful school, but the price is a real sticking point for me.

For those who have been admitted: (1) Was it via email? Letter? (2) Did you receive scholarship information with the acceptance, or did it come later? How much later? I applied a few days before the February priority deadline, so I still likely have another month to wait. But I have other offers on the table and am trying to predict when I'll have all of the information I need to make my decision.

According to this thread from 2016, the scholarship award letters went out the Friday before Presidents' Day, and most seemed to receive their letters by the following Saturday. If this year is the same, then decisions have been made and our letters are in the mail, which means some could get their letters as soon as tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm on the West Coast so I'm not expecting to hear anything before the weekend. Fingers crossed for everyone!

For those who receive scholarship offers this week, please post your stats if you feel comfortable doing so! According to a friend, the priority admit scholarship amounts are based mostly on GPA, with the higher amounts given to those closer to 4.0. I have no proof of this, but anecdotal evidence from previous years’ threads seems to confirm it.
-
Based on threads from previous years, it sounds like the scholarship letters could go out the door as soon as tomorrow, and that we could begin to hear back as early as next week. Fingers crossed!

I haven't heard anything, and it's been one month since receiving notification of my acceptance. I know from past years that the special programs decisions are made after acceptance to the MSW program. I know someone who was accepted into a SP well over one month after being admitting into the school. So it's not unusual that we haven't heard anything yet...but that doesn't make the wait any easier!
-
Congrats!!!!! I guess one “benefit” to hearing this late is that now we don’t have a very long wait before merit scholarship letters are sent. Depending on the award amount, there is a very good chance I’ll end up at Pittsburgh. Seems like an excellent program in a fantastic city.
-
Woah, so I got in! Phew. Thanks for listening to me gripe, everyone. I somehow had missed the online notification from a few days ago. Momo493, I am sure you will hear in the next few days! And if you haven’t done so, you could always call the school to check in. They are really nice. Question for others who have been admitted: how do you know that merit aid decisions will be mailed this month? Was that something explained in the physical snail mail letter? Because my short online decision letter in the portal says nothing at all about a forthcoming scholarship letter.
-
Hello! I’m honestly a bit relieved that I’m not alone in this. Next week is week 6 so I’m thinking we’ll finally hear by then. Fingers crossed.
-
The song remains the same. Anyone else still waiting? :-)
-
Congratulations! That’s very fast—the school rep I spoke with said the average turnaround is 6 weeks. Two questions, if you don’t mind: (1) when did you apply? (2) did you receive any aid beyond the automatic $20k?
-
Congrats to all the DU admits! I am still waiting, waiting, waiting on my Pittsburgh decision...Pitt might be my top choice, and I applied by the priority deadline, and I have a GPA well above the threshold that "guarantees" admission. But I still haven't heard back, and I can't help but obsess over it! Even assuming I do get in, I'll then be biting my nails to hear about scholarship info. The waiting game is the worst!

Also, a question about funding: Is this the first year that CWRU has promised every admitted student $20,000 in merit aid? It's nice to offset the high cost. I hope the school is still generous with scholarships beyond that...$20k is very generous, but the remaining price ($60k) is still pretty darn high for an MSW.
-
I'm glad they extended the priority deadline to tomorrow, because I didn't have my application ready by the regular deadline. I hope they review a bunch and start making decisions after tomorrow! There isn't a lot of information in previous years' threads, but it seems like CWRU can take 6 or more weeks to render a decision from the time of application. It's going to be a long wait...

Email.

Ditto to every word of this.

Phew, this is all a relief to read! I am still waiting to hear...

Big fan of your user name. Good luck!

I could have sworn that there was already a Michigan 2018 thread...but I can't find it. Anyhow, post your Michigan-related thoughts and info here! I applied before the priority deadline, and I was accepted via email a few weeks ago. I'm still waiting to hear back on my Special Programs scholarship application. Based on what I've read from previous years, it might another month or two before hearing back on that. Good luck, everyone!
