    After the initial acceptances to few people from University of Washington, Washington State University and University of Arizona, has anybody heard back? I’ve emailed them asking about my application status but no reply yet. Even if it is rejection why aren’t the results out?

    How important is it to attend the visit day at the university of your choice? Been admitted in one but waiting to hear about funding—in a month they would tell us. But should I go for the visit day would that make a difference in securing funding?

    Thanks...As an International student and having received my Masters from a US University, I had a different opinion altogether. At the time of my Masters, I had 4 people doing their PhDs and were more than 37 years of age. All completed their PhDs in their 40s. I think I have more respect for my School now and schools that encourage older people to pursue further education. Top schools, yes maybe they are but in reality, they are no good if they discriminate on the basis of age, nationality or the likes. Like I said before, the system fails. But I will hope and pray all of us get at least one school. All we need is one admit!

    I am angry right now. If it is all about the freaking scores then they should just say you need to have 95th percentile and 5.5-6 AWA. What’s the point of making a student write those Statements? Just take the scare and decide a fit! I have a super strong profile but a weak GRE and that decides my fate for each of these ‘great’ schools. The system is a failure. And then they conveniently say ‘sorry’ that we didn’t recognise talent. In a recent interview Harvard apologised to Jack Ma for being rejected 13 times. Why? Low scores. Wow am not sad I got rejected. Am happy. The school that recognised the hard work and research would be the right fit. Not one that decides a students caliber based on freaking scores. Not everyone is great at tests but can be great at writing. I have 11 publications, USAID grants, conferences, editorial experience, research experience...all that was just rendered useless in front of the scores. Great!

    Just got rejected from Ohio State University! I knew that! Next up is Berkeley reject!

    I applied to 4 schools with Dec 1st, three of which have started sending out acceptances...I have received none yet! So I guess those three are gone for me. Waiting on the others! Anxiety, sleeplessness and worry is my favorite hobby these days

    Completely understand your anxiety. I do the same the all night. My sleeps all gone. Am sure you have applied to other schools as well. Hope you get UW-Madison...but we need only one great school! And they are still sending out decisions..so hang in there. You have one school for sure. At least that should be motivation to stay positive. I have none yet and see the results page flooded with acceptances from the schools I applied too. Have faith and stay positive. Don’t fear rejection. It’s part of the process. Fingers crossed for you! I was wondering would it be appropriate to email OSU and check on the status? Or I should just sit and wait?

    No wonder the rejections...I am guessing it must be the same with most of the universities. I have never been so anxious and nervous ever.

    Do you mind sharing the names of the 6 schools? I think Penn and Irvine are two..

    Now am freaking out. Both Ohio and Berkeley have sent out acceptances and I haven’t heard from either. Assume the worst?

    Anybody heard from University of Colorado, Boulder, Berkeley, Ohio State University or University of Washington? Results have started coming in for other universities...makes me so anxious!
