  1. I can't make clothing recommendations, but I'd be happy to grab a pint with anybody coming to Baylor preview weekend. I did a Religion undergrad at Baylor and am finishing up at Truett Seminary here (which is the only reason I didn't apply to Baylor PhD), so I've been around the department and living in Waco for 8 years and would be happy to do my best to shed light on any intangibles people might be wondering about. Shoot me a direct message if you're interested, I should be pretty open most of the weekend.
  2. I'm assuming Yale interviews everyone they intend to offer?
  3. PTS theology does not do interviews (though other disciplines do), according to a friend currently in the program. Notifications go out at the end of February.
  4. UVA waitlist update, for any concerned: - April 15 is the deadline for those who have been offered admission to make a decision. - Anecdotally, most decisions have typically been made and waitlisters are usually contacted again (for better or worse) around mid-March. - No indication of exactly how long/broad/wide the waitlist may be. - It's not a strictly ordered list; it sounds like they leave it fluid in order to fill it out with the appropriate diversity, etc. as decisions are made. I'm waitlist for Theology, Ethics, and Culture (TEC); I've seen a couple for JCA -- anybody aware of other folks on the list?
  5. Was that for TST? I've been back and forth quite a bit with Jon Clemens in admissions at Wycliffe, and he said that at least for the TST PhD through Wycliffe, admissions and bursary decisions would come at the end of February.
  6. Did you apply to TST or to U of T?
  7. Well that's not what I was hoping to hear, but thanks for the update. Can I ask who your contact is (student/faculty/admin, etc.)?
  8. No idea -- I haven't seen any "rejection" posts, only a couple of acceptances and a handful of waitlisting. I imagine that if I can get a reply to my waitlist email, it will clarify to some degree.
  9. Hopeless_Academic -- Forgive me if you've already said elsewhere or if I should know this, but how do you know the ins and outs of the system? Are you currently at DDS? (I realize there's no way to avoid the appearance of passive-aggression in putting that in text, other than to here clarify that I intend none.)
  10. As I heard from the first of my US programs, it seems like time to jump into the fray here. I was waitlisted at UVA yesterday for PhD in Religious Studies (Theology, Ethics, and Culture). I emailed today to confirm the meaning of the status update (which I'm 99% certain is a straightforward "waitlisting" but the wording left some ambiguity). I emailed the default departmental email, and someone replied to inform me that they were forwarding my message to the grad studies person. If others are interested/for sake of comparison, the message was: "Your application to the Religious Studies program was highly regarded by the faculty. You have been placed on an admission waitlist and are a candidate for that program should an opening become available. You will be notified once a final decision regarding your application has been reached. If you have questions in the meantime about your status, please contact the program to which you applied." I'll gladly confirm the meaning and answers to my follow-up questions when I get a response. In the meantime, I've been scanning through and want to confirm what seems to be the case: 1) Duke ThD interview invitations have definitively gone out, with no reason to continue hoping if you haven't gotten one yet? 2) Yale has started interview invitations but is less systematic so it's still a crap shoot?
