I would definitely contact them. It's almost April. You deserve to know by now. Also, if it helps the letter of acceptance/ rejection is all the way at the bottom of the portal once you log into it, so you have to scroll down otherwise it looks exactly the same and like they haven't updated it. I hope you get good news!

If YDS or Harvard has their own Director or Assistant Director of Student Services that might be a good person to ask. At least at BC that is the person that helps people find jobs after graduating, so she is often told if people are going to doctoral programs. Also, professors in your specialty are a great resource because they probably wrote recommendations for those people and know how it turned out. If you go to accepted students days, asking the students could also give you a sense of it. Admissions probably has information on it, but I would just be cautious because some Admissions team stretch the truth a bit and make it sound like a lot of people for example get into Yale's PhD program when in reality one person has been accepted in the last seven years or something like that.

Hey! I might have missed this in the thread, but have you asked YDS and Harvard for their acceptance numbers to PhD programs in HB/NT/Second Temple? They might not have an official chart or anything, but someone in the department should have an idea of where students have been accepted in the last three years. Neither of those programs are so large that that shouldn't be common knowledge within the community. This is important because BC has a great record of getting students into Ethics and Historical programs, but a less successful record of getting students into systematic and bible programs, even though BC has a very strong systematics department. The point being the strength of a program does not always directly correlate to doctoral acceptances.

The way a professor explained it in one of our PhD application panels was that unless one's previous work is research oriented it is useless and should not be on a C.V. That is the strongest stance I have heard on it. Most other people I have heard say it helps to have research experience, but other jobs can be explained in a way that still showcase relevant skills. At BC I wasn't able to get a research assistantship, I worked in the office for the department copying paper and doing things like that and I was accepted to a PhD program.

This is a rough wait and it is getting harder for me to believe they haven't sent out any informal or formal acceptances yet.

I am sorry to hear that. I hope Theology & Religious Studies works out and that we all hear back from them soon.

Hey! I really think you should be fine, Master's admission is much easier than doctoral admission and your GPA is great. I can obviously tell that you haven't applied to any Catholic Universities, but if you are getting nervous and would like to put out another application Boston College School of Theology & Ministry has an MTS degree that you build yourself, so you can focus in OT. The admissions is rolling and it has excellent funding. I know a lot of people who have been successful there that have come from small conservative Christian colleges and who focus in OT and Second Temple. Good luck with admissions!
