  1. Final Tally: RISD : Accepted with 17500/year Columbia: Rejected without interview lol UCLA: Rejected SVA: Accepted NYU: Accepted SAIC: Accepted with near full-ride (gotta pay 2500~ a year) CalArts: Accepted with 22k/year Well thats it and It looks like I'm headed to SAIC They also gave me an additional 8k in work-study so with a side hustle I'll be able to pay for rent & food. Shouldn't come out with much debt. Overall, pretty happy with how it turned out!
  2. Well SAIC gave me 90% funding, so it was really easy for me to decide. Plus SAIC was always one of my top choices, I really loved the school when I visited and my interactions with faculty/staff were great. Other schools, either facilities were not as nice, faculty/staff interaction bad or else. So it was really easy for me. But of course, this is a highly personal process but I think there are some overarching criteria if your goal is to be a practicing artist: (not ordered by importance) 1. How will going to this program help advance me as an artist, help me advance my work? 2 .How will going to this program establish connections, improve my chances of being of full-time career artist? 3. $$$ How many arms and legs will I have to sell to afford it? Best of luck to you. Personally I heavily recommend looking at alumni and current MFA student work...
  3. Rejected from UCLA Design Media Arts. Not too bummed about it tho
  4. FULL RIDE TO SAIC !!!! (tuition wise that is) That pretty much concludes my whole application process, SAIC was one of my top choices, went there, loved it and the finances make it an easy choice. After an early rejection/silence from Columbia, bad interviews at the start, thought I was done for but so glad and relieved it came out like this.
  5. Yeah email at first for both, and then letter I assume to follow. Though for saic it varies more by program, some were informed via phone first etc
  6. Sure thing. It was pretty standard questions, basically general themes/influences of your works, Why SVA, and then prof. picked out an aspect of a work that he went into detail. Of course, the "any questions for us"? Very standard, very routine so as long you are well prepared you should be fine! Good luck!
  7. Thank you! Was super happy when I heard, and I really liked my interactions with the school/faculty so far
  8. Accepted to SVA for mfa fine arts. Also got excellent funding for SAIC and possibly more funding to come. Downside is SAIC wants an answer by Mar 15th but it looks very likely Im heading to SAIC XD
  9. clearly there is absolutely no correlation. Sorry son, but if your non-private program (oh yeah rhat rules out columbia, yale too) makes no difference in advancing your career as an artist then the value is limited. You overlook the fact, these programs often only accept artists with potential in the first place. Good artists arent because of a 2 year program. But if you think a 2 year program does nothing for an artists, then why bother to go in the first place? Fully funded ego trip?
  10. Lol look at the alumni that came out of CalArts art mfa and then talk. Funding is important, but so is quality.
  11. Is anybody applying to any german art schools? They are pretty much have no tuitiom and some have amazing faculty. The one is dusseldorf has peter doig, thomas struth, and gerhard ritcher to name a few. Downsides is I have 0 knowledge of german ( although I hear they teach in english) and their application process is rather byzantine. Curious to hear any thoughts/experiences
  12. Im still waiting for my letter to arrive but does your package mention anything about funding? From what I was told, funding was determined afterwards??? Although shouldnt merit based aid be determined already?
  13. Accepted to saic performance and then art tech. All in one day So excited and happy right now!!! Funding tba in a week or two, although there was no mention of a merit scholarship in the convo so im not hopeful....
  14. Anybody apply or hear back from SAIC Art & Technology?
  15. Anybody hear back from saic performance?
  16. I didn't get it, I didn't get anything. Looking at what has been posted and from my friend it looks like standard mail. Ahaha yes I've calculated how long it will take to get to NY. https://ribbs.usps.gov/modernservicestandards/ssmaps/find_map.cfm Check this link, it will show u the "service standards" of USPS by region. How faithful USPS are to their standards though, no one knows.
  17. I know a painter who did not receive a call but got an acceptance letter from saic. So there is still hope lol
  18. oooh thank you. Hopefully I hear something soon....
  19. heyyy Congrats!!!! For your acceptance package do they send it via usps or courier (if so, which one?) Thanks!
  20. Congrats!!!! How were you notified??
  21. Alright my anxiety just went through the roof as I haven't received any calls/emails. Flip-side is nobody from the programs I applied to received them either. The next week will be painful...
  22. Uhhh what are you writing lol? Shouldnt sound like your refusing them in any way possible. Maybe "looking forward to the results" + invite them to contact you if they have any further questions as a means of indicating continued interest. Remember all you need to do is the following 1. Thank them specifically 2. Indicate how happy u were talking to them, meeting the program, faculty etc 3. Indicate your continued, increasing interest with contact info
  23. Eh you mean the faculty teaching in the mfa arent good as well? Or just the staff? Curious since i got an offer but havent decided yet
  24. Ooh first time I heard that Yep thats an atm machine. Dont do it lol
