Question about the Match: I just received an email about rules for the Match, etc. I was rejected from the two schools I applied to. Do I need to submit anything for the Match, or do I need to opt out since I didn't receive interviews and was flat-out rejected/not waitlisted?
@AspiringGC thanks so much for all the feedback! The two main areas that I think I'm probably lacking in will be shadowing (I didn't start shadowing until July of last year and only got to see maybe 10-15 patients - not sure how that compares with others' experiences) and advocacy (haven't done any advocacy work since 2015 when I was a hospital advocate for rape/sexual assault survivors).
I'm not sure I'd be able to do an internship since most of the ones I've seen around my city (Houston) are pretty intensive and I work full-time at MD Anderson (I'm in cytogenetics, so I figured that would really help my apps as I've worked in both constitutional and cancer labs).
So would you recommend reaching out around May for feedback from schools I applied to?
Has anybody gotten any updates from UT Houston other than interview invitations? I'm wondering if there's somewhere I can check to see if I've been denied since I haven't heard anything from them yet.
Dang, I didn't even think to check Baylor's application portal website until you mentioned it. Mine says "Not Offered", so I guess you're still in the running!
