I received an email from Calgary that I got off of the waitlist for the 1 year clinical. I will most likely be declining it as I already accepted an offer at UFV which is close to where I live.

Got my conditional acceptance to UFV today! They updated the application portal this am. I am currently in my BSW still, but I finished this semester. I was also waitlisted for the 1 year clinical in Calgary last week.

I asked UFV when they send out acceptances back in Jan but they had no answers for me. They said they didn't know how long it would take. Maybe I will contact them now and see if they have a better idea. I know that they require interviews though as part of their assessment.

I really hope so! I am surprised the 2 year program heard back first. I can't stand waiting anymore. I just want to know whether its a rejection or acceptance.

Congrats! So exciting! I am waiting to hear back on the 1 year program at Calgary. Did your status change online first? Or did u receive an email acceptance first?

I called last month and they said mid to late March. Fingers crossed we will hear back sooner!

They said everyone will hear back by end of March. I am thinking that they probably do 1 and 2 year clinical programs at the same time. I know they accept 30 for each but not too sure how many applicants they receieve. I initally inquired about the leadership specialization and they said 1 in 3 applicants are successful. Not sure about the clinical program. Does anyone know?

Ann Chen was a really helpful advisor her email is ajmchen@ucalgary.ca . But according the the website Sally is now the clinical advisor. Her email is sstgeor@ucalgary.ca. They are also really helpful over the phone too and dont seem to mind answering questions.

I emailed the clinical program advisor from Calgary and she told me that a competitive gpa is between 3.3-3.5. It sucks that we won't hear back until mid March though. I just want to know!

I called admissions and they said that we would not hear back until at least mid March for the 1 year clinical. The said they were behind right now. The people who hear in feb are those in leadership because they start on the summer.

UFV is not totally clinical focused but they do offer some electives in clinical practice. Calgary would be my first choice for sure. I am feeling the same as you..I wont be totally crushed if I am not successful this year. Calgary told me that a competitive gpa is between a 3.2 and 3.5. I don't know how much weight gpa has on the application though. Good luck to you as well!

Hey everyone, I am also surprised at how quiet this years forum is. I applied to Calgary's 1 year clinical specialization, as well as UFV. I am just finishing my BSW at Uvic this semester. I also know quite a bit about the MSW program if anyone has any questions. I decided not to apply to Uvic as it does not offer a clinical focus.
