  1. @Bisquick Just a question, when did you hear back from UNC? Thanks! And best of luck with your choice! Congrats on your admittance!
  2. Hello! I think it really depends on what schools you're looking at. While I was applying, I wanted to know my odds of getting accepted. Some schools were honest and said that they look heavily at GPA, especially your math grades. And others told me that since I showed an upward trend, they would consider that. Since you have a medical reason, you should definitely let the schools know. I have a friend who also had a medical reason for a lower GPA, and he got into a lot of schools. So, my advice to you, is just apply to a wide range of different ranked schools and hope for the best! There are some programs that are more application based than theory. And anyone can correct me if I'm wrong- but I think more theory based programs look more heavily at your math grades . But as a affirmation, I don't think that you should completely lose hope of going to grad school. And if you don't get into grad school this round, gain some work experience and then apply again . That seemed to have worked for a lot of my friends! Best of luck.
  3. I do see the value in a 2-year program, however, I'm trying to decide of a 2 year program at a lower ranked school is more valuable than a 1 year program at a higher ranked school?
  4. @GoPackGo89 Thank you for your response! That is something that I am definitely considering and value. I plan on contacting the PhD schools I'd like to apply to and ask them what they think is best!
  5. Hello, I would like some insight on the difference of a 1 year program vs 2 year program. I am interested in pursuing a PhD after my master degree. However, I am not 100% sure. Which is why I am interested in pursuing a masters first. However, would it hurt my chances of getting into a good PhD program later if I choose a 3 semesters master program at a higher ranked school vs a 2 year master program at a lower ranked school? I know people have said that 2 year program typically have more theory classes than 1 year classes. However, when I've been looking at the courses for each individual program (1 year vs 2 year), they do not seem to differ by much. But, do PhD schools weigh the difference more heavily? I'm hoping someone with some experience will be able to help me as I am in the process of making my decision. Thank you.
