Canadian Masters in English Lit

A little late to this, but I have a question! Assuming you are finishing up your MA, at what point did you secure an advisor? Should I start reaching out to potential professors that align with my *intended* research? -
All three official letters (MT and MACSE) were attached to my SGS profile.
-
I had all my documents and references submitted by early November.
-
Just received my official offers to both the P/J and J/I streams via email via SGS upload.

I would say it's definitely not frowned upon. I emailed twice in two weeks and the DGS was extremely sweet about it. I also emailed the head of the graduate department at McGill about funding and received the most pleasant personalized response directly referencing my application documents and previous work. -
So, I was just recently admitted to McGill's MA program, which is very exciting since it's both my top choice and a largely interdisciplinary school (my undergrad thesis interacted with film and literature). It's really a perfect fit for me. McGill was slightly different in the application process -- they specifically instructed us not to contact professors who we might want to work with. However, I have spent a lot of time researching potential advisors, and I think I have it narrowed down to three that decently match my research interests. At this point, I am wondering how I should proceed. If you did a terminal MA, how soon did you contact potential advisors? Or did you at all? Were you intimidated in doing so?

Not yet. My understanding is that it will be sent via snail mail. In years past they hardly ever did it through email.

Checked ACORN (just made an account... oops) and it says "Invited" under the J/I stream! Taking that as an acceptance!

Waitlisted at UBC for the MA program! To be expected since it’s not the greatest fit. Will be emailing McGill again today since that’s the program I really hope to hear back from. -

I know I shouldn't (because it's still fairly early in the notification process), but I'm beginning to really stress that I won't get in -- especially in light of all these MA acceptances today! -

I don't think they have already sent out all the acceptances (for sure on the MA level, not sure about the PhD level) based on the email that I just got yesterday. Why is it that I have so much research to do, but yet I find myself constantly refreshing this thread and the result boards? ha ha *crying inside* -
