  1. Nothing about PhD, but yes, it was Maria. She replied within about 30 minutes!
  2. Emailed McGill about my application (as I've been a ball of stress) and this was the response: "The Review Committee are in the process of finalizing the MA applications. You should hear from us by the end of the week." Eeeeeeek!
  3. I got interviewed about both actually, but accepted into the PBI stream.
  4. Not to speak for anyone else, but I was interviewed on February 3rd!
  5. @WhatIsSleep Congratulations! You are killing it on the acceptances! Like Vancouver, the secret to living in Toronto is a ) being far outside the "city" limits b ) finding a space the size of a Harry Potter's closet c ) having multiple roommates -- usually all three in conjunction!
  6. 20th C. American Lit - interested in modernism and postmodernism with a focus on performance, form, and the body. A lot of my work intersects with film and music. If I was to really narrow it down, my main area of study is the Beat Generation (ie. Ginsberg, Cassidy, Kerouac).
  7. Thanks for this! Maybe we can use this info to construct a broad timeline of the other school notifications (i.e. tail-end of the month into early March)?
  8. @RainDays @WhatIsSleep re: McGill, I'm going to give it until the end of the month until I inquire about application status. From years past, it looks like PhD/MA acceptances are scattered somewhere between last week of February to early April (at the latest). Patience is a virtue that I do not have right now, ha ha.
  9. I'll conveniently be in the Toronto area at the time, so yes! Hope to see you there!
  10. That's fantastic! Are you going to the Welcome Reception?
  11. Got an acceptance via email to the MA Child and Youth Study this morning! Fingers crossed that the MT decisions will be released shortly
  12. Soooooo when exactly is it too early to contact the DGS? *nervous laughter*
  13. @statusquo @Saf88 I'm pretty positive that unless you are a current UofT student or an alumni, you won't be able to access ROSI/Acorn.
  14. That's so frustrating. I was hoping for notification by early March, but now I'm not so sure that will transpire. My general impression is that most of the Canadian universities are way behind on review times. I saw a few acceptances for other Humanities programs (History, French Lit), so hopefully that means that English will be on the docket soon.
  15. While mine is for the Masters program, my application says the same thing. I am stressed.
  16. Also side question: what are your thoughts on asking UofT MT for an early acceptance? I got accepted to McGill for the MATL back in December and they require an answer by March 1st. While I am still waiting for acceptances from other schools and programs, I am anxious that I won't get in to the others and be left high and dry.
  17. I mostly chose the MT over the MACSE based on the ability to specialize. I also was really drawn to the thesis requirement, particularly since the MACSE seemed to be a one-or-the-other type of program (in terms of practicum and research streams).
  18. That's a stacked resume! Keep us updated Just curious, what made you prioritize the MA over the MT?
  19. Hello! I applied for J/I (first choice), P/J (second choice), and MA Child and Youth Study (third choice). A little background on me for reference: English Honours with a 3.75 GPA, skating instructor (ages 2-12), summer camp leader, support worker/coach with autistic children in sports settings, volunteer experience at an ECE centre. My application has been under review since November. From what I have read, there is no interview for the MT. I DID however have an interview on Saturday for the MA program which was terribly stressful (but it is just my fallback). Hopefully we start to hear back within the month! Best of luck to you all
  20. Bless this Canadian thread. I have been scanning all other threads and am overwhelmed seeing all the American acceptances already! I am currently finishing up my English Honours undergrad (Canadian university) right now and have applied to UBC and McGill for the MA in English. Question: on your grad application portal, what is your "application status"? My applications were fully submitted by the first week of January (reference letters included), yet my status still says "Submitted". Shouldn't it be "Under Review" by this point? My friend who applied to similar schools for her MA in History has the same situation/question. Best of luck to all
