Ughhhh!!! Maybe you can defer enrollment?? And, during the meantime, save up? Columbia is just a dream for me as well, especially, since CSULB already accepted me for their advance standing and it’s way cheaper (I live in the area too). I wish UCLA and Berk did advance standing I understand that the curriculum is all generally the same so long as it’s accredited but I feel like if I decide to go for private practice, that the name would have more backing because of the prestige. Meh. ??‍♀️

Oh man!! Those stats are super intimidating!! I’m still waiting for a response and I applied advance standing 2/14. My field advisor even submitted the undergraduate field form late. But, I think Columbia is just a long shot and I’m very happy with my acceptance at CSULB. I did the orientation on Sat at CSULB and already feel excited & scared on how heavy the curriculum is for Advanced Standing.

I choose advanced clinical social work practice. Columbia is more of a far-fetched dream since CSULB is more cost effective and closer to my home/family/friends/boyfriend. But, I've always thought it would be an amazing opportunity to live elsewhere for a bit and grad school is my "chance." I was so busy with school that I wasn't able to apply to other schools and feel discouraged. I didn't research enough schools that did advanced standing and UC Berkeley & UCLA did not offer those options. CSULB has an amazing program and I know a few of the grad professors. I just still want to see if NY is even a possibility and take it from there. I feel the same way! I've been checking the portal and emails everyday! Are you waiting on other schools as well? I applied early Feb for CSULB and heard a response back in three weeks. It was so quick! I don't think Columbia has the same mindset.

Oh! I'm coming from LA as well and applied advanced standing. I only applied for CSULB & Columbia. I shouldve applied for more schools It's always been a dream of mine to live in NYC and my professor at CSULB only spoke great things about their program. I applied early Feb so you'll likely get an answer before me.

So glad the wait is over for you! Let us know which school you end up choosing! I applied for advanced standing and waiting for a response from Columbia. I only applied for CSULB and Columbia, wish I applied to more schools but I was smashed with school work and applied last minute.
