  1. Hi! I’ll be going to CSULA, attending the 2 year program. I have not heard anything lately, I don’t think we have anything to do until our orientation in August.
  2. Hi @jicelleg, I also interviewed in early/mid feb and haven't heard anything. From what I understood from the people who interviewed me they aren't releasing any decisions until they have interviewed all of the candidates. They told us that they would be conducting interviews through March and possibly into the first few weeks of April. My guess is we will hear back by the end of April but they said it could be as late as May 15th.
  3. @gandma Hi! I know its been awhile since I last asked you a question, but I am wondering if you would be able to answer what the starting salary range is for people working in child welfare in LA as a CalSwec recipient. I don't have any expectations necessarily, but I can't seem to find much info on it and it does seem like useful information before applying to this stipend program. Thanks!
  4. Hi @mswapplicant21 I did my undergrad in sociology at UC Santa Cruz. My upper rib GPA was 3.6 and for the three years I’ve been working as a case manager in immigration and homeless veterans law. I’m sorry to hear you did not get accepted to LA. I think it is a very small program with limited spots available. I am sure you will hear from another school soon. What is your first choice at this time?
  5. Hi! My name is Savannah Coker. I was accepted to CSULA and CSULB. I have not heard from CSUN yet, but I interviewed with them mid-February. What is your first choice program?
  6. I’m trying to decide between CSULB and CSULA right now. So difficult!
  7. Hello! Thank you so much for your response. I am definitely leaning towards CSULA because I like that it is a smaller program, and Long Beach is about an hour away from where I live. There seems to be more hype around Long Beach’s program though, and I am trying to see if it is for good reason. Good luck! I am sure you will receive news soon. Which is your top choice?
  8. Hi Everyone, I have been accepted to CSULB's and CSULA's MSW programs and cannot decide where to go. (I know this is a problem I am blessed to have.) Does anyone have any experience with either of these programs? Or if you applied what are your impressions? I am leaning towards CSULA- it is close to my home and I am more interested in the classes, however, due to their outdated website/some communication issues I am concerned that the program might be disorganized/mismanaged. Anyways, if you attended either program or applied to either program and have thoughts on either school please let me know. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you and good luck to everyone still waiting for admissions decisions!
  9. Hi! There was no interview process (for me at least) at CSULB.
  10. Hi! I reviewed acceptance to CSULB in early January. I am still waiting on CSULA and CSUN.
  11. @gandma Thank you so much for your help!
  12. @gandma thank you so much for this information! Do you mind if I ask a few more questions? How many students were in the CalSWEC program with you? When did you find out you had been selected for the CalSWEC program? and when was your application due/interview? Thanks again!
  13. Hello Everyone, I was recently accepted to CSULB’s full time MSW program for 2018, and am awaiting admissions decisions from CSUN and CSULA. I am planning on applying to the child welfare stipends available but have not found a whole lot of information on the application process. I am specifically wondering if (assuming I get into another school) I can apply for the stipend through more than one program and then decide where to attend based on the results. I am really passionate about child welfare and these stipend programs sound amazing. I am also looking for any other insight into the application process people have to offer. Any information/support is really appreciated. Thanks!
  14. Hi! I submitted my application to CSULB right before Thanksgiving and received two acceptance emails the second week of January! From what I have heard it takes 8--10 weeks after application submission for them to get back to you with a decision. Good Luck!
  15. Hi! I am sending my application in tomorrow. I have a 3.3 GPA with a 3.6 in my last 90 units. Since graduation (for the past 2.5 years) I have been working in non-profit and immigration law. Can I ask if you applied to any other Cal-States MSW programs last year?
