There was a small envelope with the admit letter and a pamphlet of the department that arrived by mail indicating that I was admitted to the university. There would not be any other packets coming through mail. All other packets will be handed over during orientation.

Is the course enrollment on some kind of first come first serve basis.....meaning, do i stand a chance of losing an opportunity to enroll in a particular course (because the seats are filled) if i decide to enroll during the orientation week, wen i m more conversant with d procedure n other technicalities.

Did you receive an email or snail mail regarding funding? When did you receive it? Have you applied for Escondido housing in the lottery or have you already been assigned Escondido?

What i learnt from the info on the website was that you will be charged for the housing beginning from the date that you selected in your application. But, they also mentioned that you should inform the housing desk if you would be arriving late to the campus. Since the housing will be available to you starting from the date that you selected, its obviously better to select the date on which or after which you would be arriving. So, I would suggest based on your requirements, that you enter Sep 11, 2010 for now; and then inform the housing desk about your late arrival once you have been assigned a housing. I filled in Sep 11 for Grad Housing....so wud b arriving around dat time.

I received my packet today. Assuming that it was dispatched on the day that the letter is dated, it took 30 days to reach me.

At this point, I think they would email you, but its alwz better to give dem a call, n knw ur status....

No, I don't have funding yet. Have you filled out the form for student ID card? Where are you planning to stay?

I have not received the admission packet from stanford. I emailed Ms. Sampson and she told me that they would not be resending the packet. Hence, can someone (preferably, international student) who has received the packet tell me what all documents are there in the packet so that I can take appropriate actions.

There is an orientation program for international students from September 13, but I don't know whether the same orientation program will apply to US residents/citizens as well. http://studentaffairs.stanford.edu/gradadmissions/admitted/checklist From the threads on this post, am I to assume that most of you guys would be trying for the in-campus graduate housing?

I accepted the stanford's admission offer to MS in structural engineering. I have still not received any packet from stanford. As the postal service is unreliable in my area, and it is possible that our elderly complacent postman misplaced my letter, I asked the department to send me an email about my acceptance so that I could take necessary actions. I was told that it might not be possible to receive a reply regarding funding before April 15; and hence, I had to accept the offer without knowing my prospects of funding. I hope Stanford is as rich as s1u8n pointed out, and it provides me some sort of funding. My Axess To Do list is empty. I was going through graduate housing in Stanford and the costs are pretty steep. How can I look for housing facilities around stanford. I know stanford is located around Palo Alto, but what other areas can I look for for housing. I can't visit the place before the term starts, so it will be pretty difficult to get a good deal sitting here in India. But, if someone can suggest some websites or other sources, the help will be really appreciated. BTW, When does the term start? September first week or earlier?

What are the next steps after accepting the offer? @s1u8n Have you received financial decision? They told me that I may receive it only after the 15th.....

Right now, I am freaking out! I still haven't heard anything from stanford, UCB and USC....and its already April 11. Is there anyone left to hear from these universities? @s1u8n Yeah, even I feel the same that I can't miss this opportunity....I haven't received any official notification from stan though....eagerly waiting for their email....its already too close to the D-day... hav u received notification about funding yet?

@s1u8n I am an international student, so I don't think that I am eligible for any student loans in the US, at least at this stage. It seems that you would be attending Stanford irrespective of funding decision. As I am an international student, I am worried about all the additional costs of housing etc over the tuition costs....bt if getting into stanford is really worth that much, I guess I'll have to take that risk..... Does someone know how many quarters does it usually take to complete structures MS at stanford?

@s1u8n did u get financial funding with the acceptance? and as already asked, is it easy to get RA/TA once v join stanford? What are the average salaries after structures MS....is it worth taking huge loans to study at stanford w/o funding?

I think, last date for accepting/rejecting a school w/o aid depends on d school.... coz i got d last date as april 15 for some schools which r nt offering me funding, n also for some schools, in may.....

Berkeley isn't over at all. They just started with their process and moreover, even I havn't got my decision yet. I heard that some students got their decisions as late as April 12 last year.....so i'd suggest u to wait out for it..... @richinsane did u only get d email confirming ur complete application on feb 2; in which case, when did u get d notification about acceptance; and how did u get it - snail mail or email? because i received my completion of application email on jan 28, 2010.

No, I applied well before that. I submitted the application on December 5. But, my last recommendation was submitted on Dec 15. I am an international student, and applied to Structural, Masters. I am myself surprised at the delay in my decisions, but having submitted all my applications by Dec 6, I am still waiting for decisions from 4 universities.
