  1. Oh no Adelaide! I hope your re-submission goes better! Take a deep breath and grab onto everyone in your support network to help you get through with determination.
  2. It's a huge concern. I know the Province is delivering some of their education budgets today to schools, so perhaps that means Universities as well. That would fit with the timeline I was told. My institution is not in a big city so there isn't very much part time work, either. I suppose I could do some freelance writing, but it's so unreliable for income. I actually have a book I am supposed to get royalties for, but it was uploaded online by a group in Russia, so I don't earn more than $20-30 a year for 4-5 years work.
  3. I think mine said: "Thank you for wasting our time. We enjoyed reading your ridiculous proposal and had many laughs. Of course we have nothing to offer you except our pity. Try not to get tears on the paper when you read your scores. Good luck and remember, don't call us, we'll call you." Laughter is the best medicine!!!! Don't worry. If you receive funding, you will have some friends to celebrate with and if you don't you will still have some friends to commiserate with. We are all in this together either way, no one is alone!!!
  4. I asked my financial aid office today. They said OGS is delayed here too because they have to get information from the Province. I asked if that meant there are going to be cuts and she said they don't know yet. My school is still in adjudication and they are hoping to be able to have everything together in another 10-14 days and sent out once they have all the Provincial info.
  5. Thank you for emailing them! That is great news. So hopefully it will be mailed by next Tuesday and in our mail boxes by Thursday/Friday. GOOD LUCK everyone!!
  6. I was told by my financial aid office that things could be delayed because of the mail strike earlier in the year, which apparently caused delays in the review process. I'm hoping they have caught up though.
  7. Me too. I think I have lost hope completely. At this point, I am even doubting I will get OGS.
  8. A few more weeks until SSHRC. Last week was too rough, with bad news from the Vanier, then a funeral of a friend, a bad cold and my PhD 1st year comp exam, which was probably when things turned positive. I am really hoping for SSHRC but I am quite skeptical that I'll get it as my Vanier scores were inexplicably low. Although I am told that can happen and doesn't indicate anything for SSHRC.
  9. I also did very badly and was surprised at the low leadership score. I have an MA and MBA and opened a small museum on my own, an entire city was helped economically by my work and wrote for me. I had to go up against a very scary good old boy network to do it (I didn't even go into the details of how they harassed and threatened me for years so their Porche club could take credit for my research. I have a book published, about 6 conferences, spearheading a conference now, I was an Incident Commander for Hurricane and Disaster Relief as well but was advised not to put that on my application and concentrate it around my museum work. I am a bit shell shocked, but also pretty happy for those who got it. I thought I'd be near the middle and not get it, but certainly not near the bottom.
  10. PsychBoy you have been so helpful and generous with helping guide us this year by sharing your own experience. Thank you so much for that. It is very, very much appreciated!!
  11. I'm guessing that your best bet is to tell your institution. I think they administer the funds. Perhaps you can ask PsychBoy (he is in the discussion somewhere above).
  12. I posted this question on our program's Facebook page and one person said they work out more or just do some stretching. I decided to plan a dinner with my classmates to keep me busy so we are having a bbq on Tuesday before our final class for the year. It feels good to look forward to that. Maybe try making some plans for something fun this week would help, Adelaide.
  13. I just went through the same juggling act. LOL. I asked the financial aid coordinator at my school and they also said that if the supervisor was a reference they would not be notified. Unfortunately she also said all tri-council awards could be late getting results out because they all fell behind due to the postal strike. SHe told me to be prepared both Vanier and SSHRC results may be later than the dates projected. But I hope not!
  14. I think they do for SSHRC Doctoral awards but not for Vanier awards since they are online. SSHRC is different because it is mailed out, but on the same day they are mailed, the institutions get a list of winners by email, from what I understand, so that is why some people find out before the snail mail arrives. I think with Vanier we probably get notice at the same time.
  15. A Researchnet maintenance message on CIHR webpage says: "Please note that ResearchNet will be unavailable from 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday, March 22 to 8:00 a.m. ET on Monday, March 25 due to scheduled maintenance. The CIHR, Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship, Vanier, and the Canadian Common CV websites will not be affected." But apparently the Vanier page is affected afterall unless there is another direct login for Vanier only.
  16. Last year's Vanier thread seems to show people posting that they got their decisions April 5th. So hopefully they are closer to April 4th date posted or earlier, as some suggested was a possibility. That would be so nice. I know SSHRC wasn't until April 30-May 5 depending where you live but winners seemed to get notice earlier from their institutions in many cases.
  17. I hope so!! It's still down so that could be why I suppose.
  18. I also thought I saw a Twitter post last year that was a little bit before the official release on the Vanier website. I am not 100% sure if it was Vanier and it could have been SSHRC but from what I recall it was a congrats to a student who had won an award from their professor. I recall looking at it and realizing it was before the official results were released and was probably a faux pas to be posting on social media about it if they knew in advance. This made me think that institutions may get notice earlier and may tell us, but if we hear from them we are probably supposed to keep silent until the official release date. I was wondering if that was what was meant when Vanier told you that results could be a bit earlier. Right now it says April 4th. Just 2 weeks. Keep busy and keep smiling everyone!
  19. I would even settle for movement on the application status at this point. It can't still be in peer review. Do universities get notification before applicants?
  20. I'm so ready to join the group. I can't wait for the date of decision to be posted.
  21. I think that was for last year's people who were waitlisted if I'm not mistake. We won't get results until end of April.
  22. Did anyone have the status change from In Peer Review to show the date results will be announced?
  23. Sorry to hear that! Do you have a specific person to send your correspondence to, such as the Program Director? If you look them up you can usually find an email address and phone number. I hope this works out for you!
  24. Follow your heart. If you have gotten this far and even been nominated for Vanier and SSHRC, then you are very likely to succeed.
  25. Thanks for posting Adelaide. Good luck. I wonder when the status will change from In Peer Review to the date results will be released. It seemed to be earlier last year, I thought I saw a thread showing that status changed in mid January.
