  1. So when you are looking at the statistics posted and choose the 2018-2019 year and it shows how many awards went out, is this for those who put in their applications in 2017 and are receiving them in 2018/2019?
  2. Wow, I thought most schools had quotas of only 1 or 2, although I recall seeing 3 at a few larger institutions. Mine only sent 1 and I don't think they sent anyone last year. I am a bit concerned that my leadership is unconventional, as it is from independent work I undertook before returning to do my MA. But it was leadership, as I spearheaded research and events, and opened an interpretive center (and had to fight a Southern good old boy club to do it). In the end, it made a significant impact on the City and I won a local history advocacy award from the State. So I wonder if the committee will just say, "Ahhh, interesting, but not academic based leadership" since I did this on my own. I wish I knew more about the types of leadership past Vanier winners had. If anyone knows of any examples, I would love to hear about them. Mine was very personal and was quite a struggle so the judging of that aspect means a lot on a very deep level.
  3. Just got the OGS in too. I hope that's it for funding applications for this year! It helped to use the Vanier and SSHRC. I found the bibliography was the hardest to condense. Now it's back to work.
  4. Even if the other one does get it, you can still get the maximum 3 years of funding if you apply next year. Keep in touch with your contacts for letters, etc. just in case.
  5. Thanks for the information! Well April 4th isn't bad. Just 3 more months. Good luck everybody!
  6. Yay! That's great Adelaide!
  7. Still "in peer review". I am trying to understand what the difference is - if any - between CGS Vanier and SSHRC Vanier? I was nominated for the Vanier CGS and just found out I was also forwarded to SSHRC Doctoral which obviously are different. I thought my Vanier application was only for a Vanier CGS. Can anyone explain what people mean when they refer to the SSHRC Vanier?
  8. I'm so happy to be forwarded to SSHRC by my institution as of today. Hopefully between a SSHRC and a Vanier nomination, one will work out for me. Good luck to everyone!
  9. Received in Toronto downtown area.
  10. I'm in a Joint York Ryerson program and the students enrolled through York have heard in mass email and Ryerson is not sending any results to anyone.
  11. No mail in Toronto and Ryerson does not seem to be releasing information. No response to email.
  12. I took the plunge and emailed to ask as well. Thank you for the bravery everyone! Good luck to everyone!
  13. That says 2017. I don't see the twitter yet saying they have mailed. But maybe there won't be one?
  14. That's what I was thinking. So it could be mailed as late as Monday the 30th.
  15. There are only 3 mail days left in April, so hopefully if we are really supposed to receive our letters by the end of month, they would go out by today. I think it can take up to a week for delivery.
  16. I wonder if this form can be accessed by everyone, but you have to access it by going to the page for this supplement. Since it says that this application period begins April 9th, would the decisions have even been made when this form appears? Personally, I won't be expecting that this has anything to do with the decision until I see a letter confirming. It's too easy to get your hopes up or crushed when it is likely wrong. EDIT ** The Michael Smith looks like it is a Masters CGS supplement, not a supplement for Doctoral students.
  17. I see "accepted invitations" and "final research report" which I think have been there all along. I don't know if I'm looking in the right place for sure. But I agree, it seems like the workaround would not work, primarily because it is a foreign supplement, and I wonder why would it be attached to an application for someone who won't need that? I do see the Michael Smith form as well, and I do have a part of my research that would be overseas. But given the above and the fact it is showing up for people who have no foreign study indicators, I don't think the workaround holds.
