  1. Sorry I'm not fully understanding the first part of your question - my average was around a 3.7. You have 6 months to complete the course, and you just work at your own pace. They are definitely on the more expensive side, ~$800 per course. I just took whatever course interested me, which for myself was random psychology courses. Then (from my understanding), the way it worked was they look at the 10 most recent, so I just kept upgrading until I bumped out some of my poorer grades. Hopefully that makes sense? Feel free to direct message me if you have other questions
  2. I mostly am a research assistant at the hospital, but I do have direct contact with mental health patients and I've often facilitated recreational groups, which I know one of my references did highlight, and that reference is a registered social worker. So no, it definitely isn't directly related to social work, but I think they consider it pretty close since it is in a therapeutic capacity. It's really tough I know, cause it's hard to find direct clinical expeirence without a masters, and you can't seem to get a masters without direct clinical experience!!! Grades was my concern as well, and i spent the last year upgrading a few courses through athabasca online courses. I remember them saying that you need at least a B to be considered, but it isn't competitive unless you have an A-... so I spent the last year slowly upgrading my gpa by taking 3 courses through athabasca online.
  3. Sure! I have a 4 years honours B.A. in Psychology from Mac. No thesis. My average was ~3.7 I have 5,100 hours work and volunteer (mostly work) experience at a hospital in Hamilton.
  4. CONGRATS online class-mate !!! Is your LORIS updated? Mine isn't... I just got an e-mail from Monica.
  5. I GOT INTO THE 2 YR MAY 2019 ONLINE PROGRAM!!!
  6. Thats me right now haha! Ughhh, I was so hopeful that maybe we'd find out sooner... guess it'll still be the February/March
  7. CONGRATULATIONS to those who got accepted!!! Now that I hear people are hearing responses I'm SO nervous.... I wonder if only the advanced standing acceptances are going out right now? Ugh this whole process is killing my nerves!!!
  8. Question.. I applied for May 2019 (2 year) online, and will now apply for September 2019 both online and in class. Nothing has changed for me in the last 3 months, does it look bad if I submit the same personal statement? Thanks, Emily
  9. I had e-mailed my academic advisor (Monica), and her automatic response said: "If you have applied for the May 2019 intake of the online part-time MSW (or MSW Advanced Standing) program you can expect to hear a decision pertaining to your application sometime between the months of February – March" I take that as we'll find out March 31st lol
  10. This wait is KILLING me. My final application (going by my last reference's submission) was September 10th.. For Online MSW May 2019. The thought of waiting another 2-3 months is torture. I'm going to apply for September 2019 as a back-up, both in-class and online. Sigh...
  11. Student awards has always been there .. but not student services ... hmmmm
  12. Hi Everyone, I applied for the May 2019 online MSW program at Laurier, back in August. Anyone else who's applied to this program: any idea when we're expected to hear back?? Ideally I would like to know before the next round of applications are due! Thanks Emily
  13. Hi everyone, New to this... I want to apply for the online MSW May 2019 start. How exactly do they calculate averages? I know it's the last 10 courses... I've done 6 upgrades through athabasca - so do they just look at my most recent 4 as per my undergrad transcript? Or do they take an average of my final year and use that 4 times. If that makes sense... Thanks in advance
