Nevermind, they give you the chance to change it after you accept!

Undergrad, BME, offered award: VG/VG, E/E, E/E Also, does anyone know how to change the institution I proposed when applying? That's not where I ended up going.

I got the award!!! I’m beyond surprised that I got it after so many grad school rejects. And as an undergrad!! This is so exciting

Just committed! Anyone else going there in the fall?

I decided to go for a summer job! I'm decently far into the application process for a STEM Camp Counsellor position, which I'm really excited about because I love teaching kids. So I'll be able to have a good time and hopefully make a few bucks

Does anyone else feel embarrassed when people ask how their grad school search is going? My family all think I'm a genius so the fact that I didn't get into the top tier schools makes me feel like I failed, even thoughI really like the school I'm most likely attending. I'm coming straight from undergrad, and all my peers have been traveling constantly for interview weekends, but all I have is one visit weekend. My friends in different fields all have to choose between 4+ top tier schools. I'm happy with where I am but I just shouldn't have told people that I was reaching for the stars, because now they know I missed.

I'm still waiting for my official letter from the school I'm currently planning to attend. Why does it take so long? I need to at least know about funding, and it would really settle my anxiety to have everything officially settled. On that note, can my last couple schools officially reject me? There's still a tiny part of me that's dreaming of UCSD even though I know it's pretty much too late

UC Davis hasn't confirmed the receipt of my itinerary and payment information (for reimbursement for the visit) and now I'm irrationally worried that they're going to be like "Sorry actually that was a mistake and you're not actually accepted." I wish they'd just send the official acceptance letter to make me feel better

What do people typically do in the summer before going to graduate school? I'm not eligible to apply for REUs since I'll have graduated undergrad by then, but I also don't just want to sit at home all summer. I need to make money anyway, and I don't have a car at home to get around to a minimum wage summer job or anything. I was thinking of applying to industry internships, but since my experience is only in academic research, I don't know if I could find one. My field is biomedical engineering (interests in tissue engineering and experience in materials characterization). Does anyone here have any advice?

There was no interview or any sort of contact before the acceptance. I also didn't reach out to any professors before/when applying. It's hard to tell whether they send admissions in waves because there really aren't that many results for Davis on the results page (that I could find, the search function hasn't been working well for me lately), but it looks like last year there was an acceptance on February 4th so I think there's a good chance that there are later acceptances. Good luck!

I've given up hope on UCSD, there haven't been any interviews on the results page in awhile. I'm definitely making the trip, I'm really excited. It's the worst flight ever (I have an overnight layover in LAX ?) but I definitely want to see Davis and get to talk to students since it's most likely where I'm going to go! Let me know if you decide to go!

Is anyone familiar with funding opportunities for UC Davis BME? I got in and I'm super excited and will almost definitely go there if I get funding, but there was no information in the initial email. Granted, the "official" letter is still pending but it makes me a little nervous. The website doesn't say anything about guaranteed funding, but it's a really great school, so they must fund their students, right? They mentioned learning abut funding opportunities at the visit weekend which also kind of seems like it's not guaranteed.

Yeah, if I don't hear anything positive by the end of the week, I've decided it's time to start applying to jobs. If anyone has advice for post bacc programs... let me know. I'm going to apply to the NIH IRTA but I'm not eligible for all the schools that have PREP post baccs because I grew up low-income but not technically in poverty. And first-generation and queer students aren't underrepresented I guess? (I'm a little salty lol I feel like I should be eligible)

@drfigue @sgaw10 @StHoly @Victorious Secret Thanks for the positivity and advice! I'm going to try to look at this website less often and enjoy my life. And I'll start thinking seriously about backup plans and looking for jobs. Planning always makes me feel better and you're right - it's not over yet.

I’m starting to get really scared that I’m not going to get in anywhere. I have one official rejection and a couple schools sent out a lot of interviews in one day that I didn’t get (MIT awhile ago, UW yesterday), and others have been sending things sporadically and I haven’t heard from them either. Even my kind-of safety hasn’t gotten back to me although there have been a few acceptances so far. I know it’s technically still pretty early but this is incredibly discouraging

That makes me feel a little better! I've been having a lot of trouble searching MIT BE so I ended up just searching Massachusetts Institute of Technology and looking at aaaaall the results so it wasn't easy to see when they were sent out lol (PS Congrats on all those acceptances I see in your signature!!)
