  1. Can anyone give me any insight on what happens if I get rejected from the program I applied to but then in April receive a SSHRC? Could this potentially get me admission to the program? In my undergrad I heard of this happening once in a while, but I'm not sure how likely it actually is. I haven't received a rejection letter, but the radio silence is telling me I didn't even make the shortlist. My application is pretty spectacular with the exception of a very crummy GRE quant score, so I'm thinking that immediately disqualified me. Do I still have a shot at acceptance?
  2. @PsycUndergrad @Mickey26 Thank you both for the quick response, and for talking me off the ledge! I thought I had my nerves under control but I think deep down I had this date in my mind as a deadline of sorts. "Ok TODAY you can start panicking" kind of thing. I really appreciate the support.
  3. I need some advice, have people been reaching out to their POI via email if they haven't heard anything by now? I had a pretty good rapport with one of my POIs throughout the application process, and I know from previously accepted students that this week is usually when interview requests go out. Yesterday I emailed graduate admissions but haven't heard back, and I'm assuming they won't answer. Is this appropriate to send a quick email to my POI, or does it come off as annoying? Do you think I'll even get a response? For context: I am talking about a pretty small clinical masters program that only gets 30-40 applicants per year.
  4. Does anyone have any idea when Acadia University (MSc) meets to shortlist? Congratulations to everyone who has been receiving interviews! Although we are technically all competition, it feels nice to see good news popping up already.
  5. Hi SunnySet! I contacted the university I am applying to and trust me, everyone is having this problem. I wrote my GRE in October and it took my official scores more than a month to arrive. Your best bet is to send them an unofficial copy, and let them know the official scores are on the way!
  6. Hi everyone! I am new to this form and am looking to see if anyone has any feedback for my application. This year I am applying for the Clinical MSc program at Acadia. This is my first time applying to a graduate program and I have many reasons for only applying to one school, which I will not get into here. Below are the strengths/weaknesses of my application. 1. I have a 4.0 GPA/4.33 2. 1 publication and another in progress, with 8 conference presentations 3. I have 5 years of experience working as a paid research assistant. The past 1.5 years I have been working as a research co-ordinator at Dalhousie University under an extremely successful clinical professor, which has allowed me to develop relationships with professors in my field of research. 4. I scored 61st percentile on GRE verbal and only 23rd in quant (still waiting for analytical writing score). I am aware this is terrible but do not have adequate time to write it again and actually make an impact on my score before apps are due. I will take another stab at it next year if I do not get in. 5. I have developed a relationship with 2 profs at Acadia who have both expressed interest in accepting me as a student. One would be a co-supervision with my current boss, whom I have a great relationship with. They have let me know that my GRE quant score will not work to my advantage, but I'm hoping the numerous other strengths of my application will outweigh this score (or I will score an SSHRC). Any feedback on what I should highlight in my letter of intent? I have already let my references know that they should comment on my quantitative skills, as I have received an A or higher in all statistics and research methods courses I have taken. Thanks in advance!
