  1. Just got an email about a rejection from U Penn CAMB, not sure if they sent out the neuro rejections already though. Was feeling somewhat sad about it as I only applied based on a PI there telling me to and that they wanted to recruit me to their lab at a conference/email, but seeing all the rejections on the results page made me feel a lot better in that we can all mope together.
  2. So I had a Skype interview and was wondering if its too weird to send a thank you right after/ a couple days after? Same goes for actual interviews? Not sure if its fairly common or overkill to do? Also during my Skype interview it was mentioned to continue/try to reach out to PIs I'm interested in to see if they have lab openings for the future but no mention was made of an on campus interview or when it would be or I would find out, is this fairly standard?
  3. Thanks! They said it would be about 15 minutes, so I guess I'm just trying to figure out what could possibly occur in that time frame. Maybe just trying to make sure I'm not a serial killer?
  4. Does anyone know how standard it is to get a Skype interview before an actual interview? Just got an email at Texas A&M and was wondering if I should be excited as I am closer to an interview in person or if this is standard for all applicants.
  5. Generally, does anyone know when schools send out emails for rejections? I received 1 from Duke but have heard radio silence from others who have already sent out invites (UCSD, U Penn, Princeton). I realize I am probably rejected from those schools as I am fairly under qualified, but just wondering if anyone knows when you normally get official rejections? I know its super variable and know someone who was not notified from a school until march/april last cycle, but my guess would be once all possible interview dates are passed its basically a rejection?
  6. From what I can tell the interviews seemed the be sent out in a 2-3 day time frame, with neuro and dev bio (BMCBD?) being sent out before christmas. I know neuro interviews are feb 6-8 which is the same time as my interview and that the date for me to tell them if I could attend was January 7th, so I am not sure if they will send out more invites after that date passed and people decline/accept. This is all just my assumptions based of others who previously were accepted and my own experience with a different grad group at UCD.
  7. Thanks! And was it for the Neuro program? I know interviews are Feb 6-8th but I am not sure how the program works in terms of waitlist, etc but I can try and find out as I know some faculty involved. I think they are behind compared to most years due to all of the fires closing campus late November.
  8. Just got my first interview (wooo!) at UC Davis for IGG. Somewhat annoyed though as I realized the recruitment weekends for IGG and Neuro are the same, so I believe I didn't get a neuro interview as I put my first choice as IGG. Just sad I spent the extra $105 on an application when there was no way I could have gotten an interview for both.
  9. Duke Neuro sent out rejections today for anyone still waiting (although you probably got the email as well)
  10. While still holding out some hope, it is looking fairly dismal for me in terms of interviews this application season (UC Davis, UCSD, UPenn, Princeton, Duke, Texas A&M) as I may have underestimated how stiff the competition would be ?‍♀️. I was hoping some of you on here could help me out in terms of internships/experience that would help me out for the next time I apply! I am already planning on applying for the NIH IRTA, but was unsure of any other opportunities to apply for as I am currently in a Masters program and will be graduating in the spring. Many opportunities I have seen are for those in undergrad or just after graduation, so if anyone is aware of anything that allows students with a Masters degree please let me know!
  11. Waiting to hear back from Upenn (CAMB), Princeton (Neuro), UC Davis (IGG/Neuro), UCSD (Neuro), Texas A&M (Neuro), Duke (Neuro). Already heard about Duke invites being sent out but would love any updates if anyone has heard back from the others so I can stop constantly checking my emails!
