  1. Happy to say I got offers from Harvard and Princeton. I guess I'll be meeting a few of you soon - best of luck to those finger crossing!
  2. Hi, This is a rubber stamp procedure. The department admitted you, but since funding comes through GSAS you're technically not in until GSAS mobilizes for paperwork. (That is what happened for me for my acceptance procedure with Classical Studies)
  3. Yupyup! I still think it's weird that so many schools do 15 minute blocks, but I have been impressed by how much can be said in that length. Based on last year (though I know they're especially behind now) this upcoming week should be Princeton week. We're likely also not much more than a week out from more information from Harvard. Good luck all!
  4. I wouldn't interpret the length as a bad sign at all. They're just being businesslike, probably. Mine also fell in the ~15 minute zone (as they predicted). I definitely found it one of my more pleasant interview experiences. Mine was essentially 10 minutes of writing sample talk and then 5 for the meta (why Harvard) type questions. Last year Harvard put out offers two weeks after interviews. I guess we can start getting anxious around the 24th. Best of luck to everyone! This was my last interview in the cycle (with the exception of whatever might happen with Princeton). Should be an interesting few weeks
  5. Yep. From the graduate coordinator. It should be an interesting interview at fifteen minutes allotted: by far the shortest that I've done. "Hi my name is Hellanicus and I study.... - TIMES UP." I wouldn't be totally freaked out if you haven't heard from them yet. It isn't entirely clear what is happening on the Harvard front at the moment.
  6. Don't put too much stock in me saying that. I interviewed on January 17th and was told that they would make their decisions in about two weeks. "About two weeks" from my interview is in five days. Of course, we could hear either sooner or later, and very probably at different times considering the administrative divide between our programs.
  7. Ancient historian here. I'd like to suggest that in this thread we specify whether we are discussing results from philology, ancient history, or archaeology programs. It's often the case, as I've encountered with friends also applying right now, that these sub-divisions release notifications at different paces. Following this rule would be good for our overall mission of reducing each others stress rather than making it 10x worse! (Who am I kidding, grad cafe is designed for beating yourself up!) Anyways, here's what I know: I've had interviews with Penn and Michigan. I'm expecting to hear back with the good old yes/no/waitlist (fuck) from both in the next five days; very soon in the case of Michigan. Most of the other programs that I've applied to seem to orient more towards February notifications, so I'm cautiously hopeful there. And yeah, the Berkeley news is worry-worthy. Best of luck to everyone. Truly!
