I'm doing a lot better emotionally this year than I did last year. I think it's really important to keep busy in whatever form that means to you personally. I have a playwriting workshop, but also a job and in my spare time I've been text message canvassing for the primaries. I think it's also important to keep working on your writing. I had a reading shortly after all the apps were due, which had me pretty down on my portfolio sample because the weaker elements of the script were so plain to me after that. But I was offered a production of that same play earlier this week out of nowhere, so I'm feeling a bit better about my chances, again! I guess my biggest advice is to remember that your application was the strongest it could have been at the time you submitted it and it's out of your hands now. It's also important to realize that no matter what happens, it really isn't the end of the world. Last year, I crashed and burned and then went on to have a great summer/fall that wouldn't have been possible had I actually gotten into a program, and ultimately didn't regret it much since this year's application was stronger for it.
That's not to say I won't start having a heart attack when interview requests and the like start coming in, but I think I won't stake so much of myself into it this time. Good luck, guys. We are all worthy and deserve the best education around.

I decided to accept Columbia’s offer! Just seemed like a better fit for me than Hunter, but Hunter is a great program so best of luck to those of you still waiting to hear!

Gregory just reached out to me via email, saying they want to schedule an in-person interview in the next week or so. I’m still drafting my “sorry, already going somewhere else email” but I wanted to let y’all know.

Hey @TheLumosChronicles - waitlisted at Columbia, so no aid offered there. I was gonna dm about financial aid stuff, but realized I'd much rather someone share info with me publicly!
In regard to your question about Brooklyn, I think I got one of the POC scholarships (unconfirmed but seems likely). Speaking to a lot of alums and people currently in the program the aid is generally impressive regardless. From what I can tell, it's a set amount that I can use for tuition and... other costs (?), so more likely a stipend. Since I'm out of state/city my first year, there's a deficit of $5k for my first year between cost of attendance & my scholarship. HOWEVER that can be made up with teaching undergrads and they set you up really well to teach at Brooklyn, which is great for those of us who want some college teaching on the resume.
I'm likely gonna pay the shortfall out of my savings so I can really focus on reading everything Erin Courtney & Mac Wellman share my first year... I wanna soak up everything I can. I'll probably hold off teaching until year two; having taught high school theater for some years, I know how much teaching can end up being all about my students and leave little room for the rest of my life, esp because teachers are so rarely paid for prep time & grading. Also like... only paying ~$5k really for grad school is totally okay with me. Hope that helps!

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is doing well with decisions and the stress of this application process. I’ve decided to officially accept Brooklyn College; it’s a great culture fit and with the scholarship they’ve given me, I won’t have to take out any loans, which is a dream. I wanted to let everyone know in case anyone lurking is on the waitlist for New School.
As anxiety inducing as this forum can be, it also has felt really comforting to have other folks who are in the similar situations on here. Best of luck to everyone and I hope y’all keep writing.

Congrats @grlldchz that’s really great, and thanks for sharing your info for Hunter. Seems like a lot of us are still pretty on edge. I’m wondering whether they’ll even conduct interviews this year? Looks like they’re running out of time with that deadline.
Also, I just looked at the film school forum again and I’m surprised to see that NYU is throwing an accepted student lunch before they’ve even contacted all the people they’ve interviewed about their status? I get that there’s still waitlist possibilities, it just seems a little cold to start planning a party without letting the rest of the applicants know where they stand.
But to everyone who has gotten good news from anywhere, congrats!

Got an interview request from Columbia! So at least it's not so silent anymore.
But apparently interviews are only 15 minutes? Which is... not a lot of time at all.

That’s really strange. So no one other than @RoryGilmore has heard from NYU even though the screenplay/television forums are going nuts with buzz? I guess that’s good news because I assumed I was the only one. (I was writing my NYU obituary in my head already). But also that’s really...strange?

As far as Columbia, it looks like these are the prime days for them to request interviews (between now and mid-late March). For Brooklyn, I can find no evidence they even interview. And Hunter...I think this is the first year they don’t require the GRE and they pushed back their deadline twice, plus the faculty switch-ups, so the information available really isn’t applicable. I didn’t apply to Brown but I totally feel your pain.
Bottom line: I think we’re all in it for the long run, but at least NOBODY is hearing back rather than just a few of us. I can’t imagine it’ll be too long before they open the floodgates and we’re all overcome with happiness/devastation/both.

I haven't heard anything other than my NYU interview and Michener rejection  I know UTA and Brown notified their finalists already (according to the results page), but I'm wondering why they're taking so long with rejections?
Speaking of NYU, I had my Skype interview on Monday, and the interviewer told me that she still hasn't notified all the finalists yet! She's going on a workshop until March 14th, and she said she's going to reach out to people for interviews after that. So don't write your NYU obituary in your head @lonewolfe094...there's still hope!
I also applied to Brooklyn, Hunter, and Rutgers, but haven't heard anything from them either.

Yes! Had a great, inspiring callback weekend at New School this past weekend, but aside from them, I haven't heard anything at all, which seems very odd other than the Yale rejections most of us got mid-Feb. The last time I applied to Brown I'd already been rejected by now, so.... what gives?

@lonewolfe094 The playwriting head at NYU reached out to me yesterday to schedule an interview, but there's a chance she hasn't gotten to everyone yet! She said interviews are 3/1 and 3/4, so maybe some more interview requests will go out later today.

    Heads up:
Someone over on FilmSchool.org got an NYU interview request, so they’re likely coming today. Looks like they send them out slowly and sometimes over a set few days, so I guess don’t panic?
