I got accepted to SAIC in Visual Communication Design but got rejected by MICA. It seems that SAIC has a very distinct way of evaluating student work. I do not know what exactly made them think I was fit and qualified for the program, but I am guessing that they are highly concept focused and if they are likely to admit students showing conceptual potential, or those who have similar pathways as their faculty who could guide their artistic careers. But I'm still kinda sad that I wasn't qualified for MICA...
Had my interview with the VisCom department in SAIC 11 days ago, and they told me I should know the results in two to three weeks, but it has been extremely anxiety inducing for me since I heard other departments like painting and printmaking are already sending out results. Fingers crossed.
If there are any viscom peeps or graphic design MFA applicants here let me know!!!
I would definitely recommend meeting in person, because that itself already shows your strong interest. And by talking in person, it appears to be more genuine for the faculty members to see if you are actually a great fit.
I got an interview from SAIC for the visual communications 3-year Post-Bac+MFA track interview, and MICA's graphic design MA program. Any idea how to prepare for it? On the instructions, it says that I will be talking about 2 to 3 of the best work on my portfolio, but what maybe be the other questions that I should prepare for?
I am a total noob and totally freaking out right now, cus the interviews are pretty close together.
