Ouch no feb, march update. I am also resigning to the assumption that I didn't get it. Last year they came out beginning of April right? so should hear soon anyways

just submitted.. I am curious about the review process. The FAQs say there is a panel of PhDs who provide a group of most qualified applicants to the DoD agencies who make the final awards. I guess I'm wondering to what extent the criteria is just- the DoD wants to fund your topic vs a wholistic view of you as an applicant more like the NSF. It definitely seems the proposal is most important, based on the small length of the personal statement.

Yeah it is ridiculous that this can happen. I read Robbs email this morning and was shocked at how they would let these things happen and then not fix them by the day the application is due. I also feel the sentiment of others who are unclear that the instructions are unclear. Many of the information they ask for are unclear. I'm pretty sure last year I entered the wrong thing for 'title of BAA' because I didn't know what they wanted

pangoline, I would highly recommend reaching out to the ndseg sysplus email- they are pretty responsive about any application question I've had so far

yeah, it changed this year. Major bummer imo this is a busy time for school and work.

hate to reopen this thread but a quick q: does ndseg provide feedback like the nsf? had to reread my proposal again recently and thought it was pretty bomb so I'm wondering what the reviewers thought

6x VG, not awarded. reviews were all positive but not super enthusiastic. I guess my application didn't have the wow factor necessary to win. The only complaints I have are that 1.) the comments didn't really provide any suggestions for improvement. One reviewer suggested I get a rec letter from one of my internships but thats it. 2.) One of the reviewers said my proposal was on a completely unrelated topic than it actually was???! likely it was their 'meh' form response and they forgot to change the specific topic. So I'm not super upset because my application should have been more impactful to catch their attention.. but still....

People on a wait list, does it note this status on the application site? Mine says 'not selected' which I assume means I'm not on the wait list, although I haven't received my email yet

I think you're right. I probably should have asked about specific fellowships because some just have vauge wording. GEM is clearly targeted at only minorities but NPSC doesn't seem so, they just state it as one of their goals. Ford foundation however is more ambiguous
