  1. I think it's best to accept the defeat and move forward. I'm in the exact same boat as you - 2nd year grad student rejected from both GRFP & NDSEG (my first time applying). But, we still have a lot to look forward to in grad school! Publications, candidacy defense, exciting data, graduation, and application for postdoc/industry positions. These results are only grim if you let them be. We both now have experience with the grim reality of funding in academia. If it's too much to handle, there's no shame in moving away from the field. I think success in academia requires a cold and brutal outlook on funding - rejection doesn't necessarily reflect our worth as scientists. My PI said to me today, "The bast****s only win if you quit trying."
  2. Yep - at least some of them. My page was just updated to "Not Selected" It's been fun - congrats to those who received.
  3. I feel like they're just messing with us at this point lol.
  4. VG/VG, E/E, F/G... What a range for me. Obviously nothing offered. Congrats to everyone who got HM/Offers
  5. Hopefully soon. Heard back from GRFP today (rejection), nice to quit worrying about that one. It'll be nice to quit worrying about this one too, either way!
  6. Hopefully we can see some results tomorrow. Not feeling confident, but it will be nice to have to quit worrying about it. Good luck everyone!
  7. I'm going to bet that anyone who doesn't see a March update got rejected (including me). I think that instead of April updates this year, we'll see a series of March updates followed by acceptance/waitlist info. Anyone else have thoughts? Hate just sitting here and thinking about my potential rejection alone lol.
  8. I'm going to guess that we won't see a March update. Looking at least year's dates sheet, it seems like the only updates following December were in Feb. and April. 2019-2020 cycle google doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HHwP8Zyh8W24HRUh5WnObRExb24JhN5ZLTa7p5Q8CkI/edit#gid=0
  9. Thanks for the heads up. The NDSEG website has their panel review period for this year's application listed as 1 December 2020 – 15 January 2021. Any idea what last year's period was?
  10. I believe that the results were announced in April last year. Not sure if it'll be the same this year.
  11. Keep us posted! Hopefully you will see something soon. Who knows - the dates may mean nothing this year.
  12. This is my first (and only) year applying, so I wasn't aware of those dates. Thanks for the heads up. I'm assuming that if we don't see an update in Jan or Feb that we likely got cut?
  13. I do a daily check for updates every morning. Not sure why I am doing this to myself either lol.
